Disney on 9/11

Good for you BrkgNews, I live in NYC and work about 8 minutes from Ground Zero. This wasnt a news broadcast to me at all. This was right up the block. I knew a few of the firefighters who gave their lives that day as well. Come that December, my butt was on a plane back to Disney as I refuse to live in fear. If we cave to that, the bad guys win and I personally wont let that happen to me!!! Belle

I applaud you. This is the same message I have been supporting myself. While not quite as close as you were to it, I am close enough myself. (Bergen County NJ) I could see the smoke from my house. At the time we were involved in getting the emergency cell sites set up across the river.

I refuse to let this effect my life. I am a bit more wary, I may eye some things with more suspicion, but to let it change my actions - not at all.

i live in middlesex county NJ, on a good day its about 20 min to a half hour away from the city. We flew out to WDW the following summer, first time on a plane since the event. I hate to say it but..IMO i really feel like if anything.. the terrorists will be attacking another "big city". I personally don't think they'll aim for WDW, (but you never know). It was a terrible event. My sisters friend lost her dad. every one up here knows some one or knows some one who knows some one that died that day. And just like every one else is saying.. i won't live in fear because of it.

Although 9/11 was a horrific and memorable occasion there is no real significance in the date other than the fact that it was the day the nation was attacked. There is no reason any terrorist {or any sick minded person} should plan an attack on this date. The fear of it is perceptual. After all a terrorist {or sick minded person} could attack on any day of the year.:lookaroun

I just re-read this and it sounds like i was repremending your fear. I really wasn't trying to if any one found that it came across that way!

Actually, I was thinking that there was some significance for the date that the terrorists chose back in 2001. I can't remember the details, but there was some kind of numeralogical significance to the date, and the terrorists like to do their deeds on certain dates that have such significance.

Wasn't there a movie called "The number 23" or something, and one of the "23's" had to do with the date of 9/11? I didn't see the movie and I don't think I want to, but a friend was telling us about it.

Actually, I would love to be in WDW on 9/11 - because it's my birthday. :) And I refuse to give up my birthday because of the terrible tragedy 6 years ago. Those animals took enough away. :( I agree with what others have said: be cautious, but don't be consumed by fear. And to all those who remember loved ones that have been lost, my sincere thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

Oh! i didn't know that. I did see something where if you type Q33 NY (i can't remember but i think this is a fire squadrant) in Wingdings it comes out to this:
Q33 NY i don't know if this is offensive or anything. Someone tell me if the don't like it and i will take it off. There is more that goes with it i will post it later.

Dear Homeland Security,

I'm sure you'll be checking in on this thread at any time. Thanks for the good work. I will continue enjoying taking my shoes off at the airport. Gives the kids some good fun to break up the flight delays.

I've heard of the 20 dollar bill thing, but I can't remember what it is.

It's an idiotic little invention of someone with too much time on their hands. Fold a $20 bill the right way and yes, you too can make something vaguely looking like a tall building on fire...
