News Disney Not Renewing Great Movie Ride Sponsorship Deal with TCM ; Attraction to Close

Starting to replace what they closed, though attendance is much greater now than when the park was at it's peak of attractions... I think across the board, all the parks are more crowded than ever, and the amount of shuttering attractions over the years without replacement has been catching up to them.... Glad something is finally happening... but ...Toy Story Land?

Animal Kingdom when it opened... and 2 of those were just transport based.

Once SWL has opened a corner will have been turned. But it's an uphill struggle with no guarantee of not slipping.

Maybe, but at the time without all the DVD Bonus Content we now take for granted. seeing the world behind the scenes was likely a major eye-opening experience.

The Backlot Tour being two hours long helped a lot I'm sure. If you did the stage shows you could squeeze a day out of it. Indiana Jones and Star Tours opened later that year thankfully.

4 rides + Muppet*Vision 3D, three stage shows, the nighttime shows, and the Star Wars stage stuff should be enough for a day of things to do, if pretty limited. It isn't worth full admission but 4 rides is better than 4 rides + more people because "cheap Disney tickets!" TSL will help with capacity at least.

While true I'd argue they've made great improvements. But then one could argue should they have been in the position they put themselves in?

There's been improvements but offset by other things that have regressed or worsened. IMHO of course.

Was still a busy day. Within a year it was a full day park.

You needed the 8am to midnight opening times (for everyone) to see it all.

No they shouldn't have. They should've continued expanding past 2008 when TSMM opened.

Indy Stunt Show, Frozen Sing-a-long, VotLM, BaTB, F!

Throw in 2 meals and some Star Wars stuff you can call that a decent day but far from fully fleshed out

Man I completely forgot that Voyage existed.

A big problem is that if you don't like thrill rides (or have small kids really) you have a lot of time outside of lines without RnRC or ToT. You can very quickly run out of stuff to do if you skip a show.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did a push for Park Hopper upgrades between GMR closing and TSL opening.

Then you swap in One Man's Dream and Disney Junior with ToT and RnRC. still not great but it gets closer

On my recent visit with younger kids we did manage GMR, ToT, TSMM, Frozen, Muppets, lunch and ice cream in about 5 hours. We called it a day after that but if they were older we could have added the 3 shows, a ToT/TSMM reride and F! to make it a full day. Still subpar in my opinion, time was better spent in the other 3 gates.

Oh, there are ways to fill a day, but that doesn't mean it is a fully fleshed out park...
