None of that matters if the Chairman/CEO disagrees and thinks that IP's are the only important characteristic. The final decision is his.
I think that's why WDW's most recent attractions (I'm looking at you - Frozen and Little Mermaid!) just seem to come up short.

They should be building both popular IP attractions as well as original ones. Gonna build a Frozen ride? Follow it up with Mystic Manor! Another Star Wars attraction? Why not build a new mountain adventure afterwards?

Because this is still a non-creative constrains on the process. It doesn't actually fix anything. The goal should be good attractions and nothing else.

Took the 12 and 15 Year old DSD and DSS on this a few weeks ago. I have always loved it, and they were very 'Meh' about it when I said we're doing it. We got done with it, and they wanted to do it again! Could it use an update? Absolutely! Should it be going away? I personally do not think so. But, I'm also not in charge of a Multi-Billion Dollar Corporation, and hold no leadership at all in said corporation. I merely pay them for an experience. I just hope upon all hope that it is not another Nice-Start, OK-Middle, Terrible-End, Half-Themed, IP-Filled, Inappropriately-Located Boondoggle... As it seems they want to be doing more and more of this lately.

I think that is what we are all feeling...and unfortunately they have not done anything lately that would make me want to trust they will actually do something better...

I think Disney needs to do more to break people of the "theme" habit. Over and over again some people complain that certain attractions don't fit their idea of the "theme". Having a cartoon mouse parading through Frontierland, Liberty Square and Main Street USA is a major theme unifier. Having GotG in Adventureland or the AK would fit the theme and be icing on the cake. Perhaps they don't realize that the theme, especially in Walt's day has always been to sell as much Disney IP as possible.

One interesting, if not positive, sign today: I had a Facebook ad on my feed today from TCM itself promoting a new sweepstakes for a week-long trip to Walt Disney World to experience it all, including the ride. The marquee in the beginning of which was the picture for the post. I thought this was interesting. I also thought it interesting that it included "16 one-day-one-park" tickets to any of the four parks (four-day vacation for four). I wonder why they did this that way, instead of MYW tickets. The trip did include a stay at a WDW resort and airfare.

In the event a local won they could break up the visits?

TCM is sponsoring a 4 day/3 night WDW vacation. You can enter on Facebook and get a second entry by liking their FB page. Go get that one last ride before it gets shut down by Disney - and let TCM Network pay for it!

Its gonna be fine its not going to be a thrill ride
I still feel the same as I did then. In a park that needs rides why not update GMR and put the Mickey ride in the Animation Courtyard.

Just because it is not a thrill ride, doesn't mean it will be replaced with another 20-minute dark ride. From what I have read the Mickey ride will be less than 5 minutes and will rely heavily on screens. Not quite as grand as the immersive sets of the GMR. IMO.

A Mickey Mouse animatronic would be very nice.

I thought it was a mix and they said more like 8-10 minutes?
