Don't insult brussel sprouts. They are delicious! 😀
If you say so... ;)
Helen. Only toddlers are being forced to mask. Literally. Toddlers only.
Helena please....

and toddlers cannot be, at this time, vaccinated which is the difference. Not debating merits, just explaining why. Spoken as someone who was in a school today without a mask, so don't think I'm pushing. However honestly I just realized this is the WDW mask thread, not NYC so I'm done :)

It depends - so better not to do it. Unless it's Bob Chapek; I think he's fair game among WDW fans these days. ;)
I actually have some Chapek news.

I was going to make a thread, but it’s all conjecture anyways.

All I will say is 11 months might come sooner.

This is not from a bus driver, but from someone who absolutely would be privy to this information. They are also very careful with their words and confirmed absolutely nothing. However it’s the first rumbling of something of this kind that I have heard from this individual.

I, personally, think this would be better in a separate rumor thread. There's already enough trouble as it is keeping this thread on topic.

That said, I'm curious to know if this rumor/conjecture speculates on how they would frame the *why* of his departure. In other words, what would he, and TWDC, tell the public about his leaving?

Would not make sense to me not to just wait that 11 months months, the collateral damage from the image would be worse then letting him stay just put a handler on him and filter every word that comes out of his bald head

11 months is a long time considering how quickly things evolve in this age of instant communications. The risk of greater more catastrophic damage is high, No?

That’s why I didn’t make a thread. I have nothing beyond that. We can speculate about it all we want, but from the way it was mentioned It’s in the early stages at best. I think the odds of this being something would be less than 5%.

I know Chapek's political missteps have garnered a lot of attention recently, but if TWDC is considering canning him, I don't think that's the underlying reason. I think it's his management of the business. I don't think the risk of him saying something else boneheaded in the next 11 months is great enough for the hassle of getting rid of him early. Is the risk of him making bad business decisions in the next 11 months great enough? Who knows?

It is a numbers game. If TWDC beats Wall Street expectations in future quarterly public conference calls, like it or not, Chapek is not going anywhere .

He was dealt a lousy hand but to be honest there is no way Chapek was going to be the long term head of TWDC unless he returned incredible numbers over Bob the former. Placeholder or whipping boy there is no way for him to move forward.

A month ago I’d have agreed, he’s created a lot of controversy over the last year though and it’s only gotten worse lately, I’m sure the board are very worried about Disney being in the crosshairs of seemingly everyone right now.

Disney frequently sacrifices the future for short term profits but Chapeks got them in uncharted territory right now, they may just decide silencing him and paying him to sit at home for 11 months is their best option to minimize the damage.

I think if they can point to a specific business reason to get rid of him, like missing quarterly targets, that would be one thing. But if they are literally sidelining him because of how he handled a political issue, I think they are going to open themselves to a firestorm of criticism from both sides. I know we can't talk politics here, and I'm not trying to wade into the issue again, I'm just saying that I think from a PR standpoint "he's not producing the results we want" is very different from "he said something we don't like."
