So, they SHOULD have built a tent structure outside of the back of TOT.

Here is why.

You walk up the normal que line to the tower, you go on the normal ride, everything leading up to the drop is normal.

Then as you fall down the shaft you faintly hear the sounds of a hot jazz band...

As your elevator doors open, you see the now fully decked out hallway, with live actor's welcoming you to the tip top club!

You walk down the hall (out a well themed side door into the tent, all of this so well themed you have NO IDEA your inside the tent structure) and you experience the tip top club here, FULLY Immersive.

Yes there is some logistic things, crowd control and such to be worked out, but how crazy cool would that be.
The Tip Top Club jazz sounds made an appearance during Summer Night-tastic drop profile sequence, jazz style music and all. It was a nice treat.

The Tip Top Club should have been a dancing event with drinks and live music. Like a proper date night where you come to dance and unwind. Disneyland has something like this that I stumbled upon to the left of the castle (as I recall- it was gorgeous- big band live music, lights, and dancing couples all around.)

One of the events of all time
Indeed. In fact, I may go so far as to say that, without question, out of all of the events that have ever happened, this event is one of the most existing ever. In a more specific lens, this is one of the ones that has happened in WDW alone, which makes it an individually individual event. I may even go so far as to say that this event is one of the events I have never attended, but it seems to be just as much of an event as any of them.

Ay idea if its based on the weather impacts or a general dislike of the event?

Show quality.

For examples of what went wrong, here are notes from our team who attended last night:
  • There were only two locations to check-in for the party: the entrance and at Vacation Fun.
    • The line to check in at Vacation Fun was more than 30 minutes.
    • CMs eventually started telling guests in the back of the line that it was better if they walked back to the front of the park, exited, and re-entered.
  • Rise of the Resistance's VQ slots were gone in minutes. It was down most of the night.

  • MDE sent out hundreds of texts to guests who'd asked for tables, saying they'd be ready "in 10 minutes"
    • That was a technical error - tables were not actually available. Our team waited for 59 minutes for their table after receiving the "10 minutes" text.
    • Besides that, our team notes the Brown Derby was understaffed; the food portions were small; and the quality was not in line with the price or the wait.
  • The character greeting lines were chaos because of how the characters were grouped and rotated.
    • The character pairings were: Mickey & Minnie; Donald and Daisy; and Goofy and Pluto.
    • Because the lines were so long, you could've thought you were getting in line for Mickey & Minnie, but got Goofy & Pluto because M&M needed breaks.
    • So you lined up for some undetermined amount of time, for characters you were not sure to get. Disney should know that people expect to see the characters they line up for. This isn't something new or an obscure customer service principle.
  • The Tip Top Club "was a small, boring, dark space" with only 3 drinks". It should've been a highlight.

  • There was apparently no "Plan B" for what to do if it rained.

  • Our team said "we spent an enormous amount of time in lines for food, and an entire hour trying to figure out Brown Derby, plus wasted a ton more time waiting for the wrong characters that ended up getting rained out anyway."

Was really looking forward to the event, going in a few weeks and hope it's not as disappointing as it sounds. If Disney's just giving out refunds I wouldn't be surprised if they scramble to fix some of these issues before the next night (they have a week)

at least you know a bit more about it and what are the better elements (the hollywood bowl show, etc) and what to skip/not bother with. Know lines may be long - but also that ride lines seem really short

At least can go in with proper expectations

Wasn't there a plan ages ago to add an actual bar to ToT?

Having the Tip Top Club be an outdoor temporary bar with no seating during an extra charge event seems like a waste.
Yeah I was not expecting the Tip Top Club to be an outdoor temporary bar either, very disappointing as this was a highlight I was looking forward to.

Perhaps the better solution is just have the Nightmare sing along and Hollywood holidays shown during the regular hours..I'm sure we can all agree having something different to see than the Frozen sing a long and B&B live on stage for 2 months out of the year is a breather of fresh air for something else to see if many guests aren't able to see it during the ticketed event..

I checked periodically after 8pm when the VQ opened and it was still open until around 9pm, so about an hour. Didn't get an exact time, but it closed around then when the ride was down, so maybe ops closed the VQ at that point.

I think that would be great - put it on Genie+, sell dessert party packages, etc if they want to recoup some $ for it

And have some of these specialty food during the day to make extra $ as well. Probably better return on investment

Other than that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?

The characters needed breaks because they were too cheap to a) pay for more performers b) sew up extra outfits like they do for practically every other offering or c) both

I'm told that Disney's giving refunds for last night's Jollywood to anyone who asks.
When I attended villains night I heard this, but when I asked at guest relations I was basically laughed at and told I heard wrong and that I got my moneys worth.

At least at that event I got a really good fireworks show.
