I believe you need to wait until after 1:30....

I thought it was 2:00 PM.

Either way, all of the rooms open at the same time. There will be barriers (those tension barrier things they use for line control) across the entraces to the stateroom halls. When the porters have ALL of the guestrooms ready, then they remove those barriers all at once, and all staterooms are opened.

Your luggage may or may not be there yet, but the room is open for your use.

Well things have changed a little. None of the resorts have check in desks anymore. So you will have to do that once you reach the port. If you purchased Disney transfers, they will pick you up at any Disney resort. The resort will let you know about what time the transfers will pick you up. :)

Ah, I have never used a resort check in, and the last two cruises only used Disney transfers on the return leg, so I have not really paid attention to it.

Loving this thread - thanks for all of the help!

Is there a washer & dryer room on the Disney Dream? (I know they have dry clean services, but wondering about a regular coin op). Going on a 4 night, then to Disney for another 5 nights and don't want to waaaay overpack.

Thanks again!

From DCL.com

Onboard ServicesQuestion:

Is there laundry service?

Answer:

Onboard laundry and dry-cleaning services (with stateroom pickup) are available for a charge. There is also a self-service Guest Laundry Room with coin-operated washers and dryers, along with detergent and ironing equipment. For safety reasons, the provided irons or steamers may be used in the laundry room only; personal irons cannot be brought aboard

There is! It's not a coin operation, you use your key to the world card to pay. :)

I've seen it 1:30 and 2:00. Our last cruise in May, it was 2:00, but the rooms were actually ready at 1:30.

You described the process perfectly though.

It should be something like this, not in this order:

All Aboard Show - Which includes characters and one or two variey acts
Villians Tonight - A musical starring the villains
Disney Dream - It's an award winning musical
Twice Charmed - A new twist on the Cinderella story
Remember the Magic - Final show with variety acts from the cruise

The other nights will be rounded out with movies and/or variety acts.

Ok, not so much a question, rather just want a little clarification to make sure I understand this right. So if I am staying at a Disney resort and using DCL transfers, I will still have to check-in at the port for the cruise b/c there are no longer cruise check-in desks at the Disney resorts, correct? And if I am using DCL transfers to the port, DCL will get my bags at my resort and I will not see them again until I get to my stateroom?

That's correct!

FYI, if anyone is staying at the MCO Hyatt and using transfers, you can check in for the cruise at the airport as early as 8:30. It's a great set up. They are generally given low boarding numbers and get to the port pretty early. They pick up your luggage from your hotel room.

The luggage pick up is for guests staying at the airport Hyatt.

If you are using Disney airport transfers you can check in at the airport. So if you stayed anywhere near the airport and could get back to the airport you can do it too.

Some tips.

Make sure you shut the machines and latch them tightly (they are front loaders) - sometimes they seem latched (and they are) but whatever contacts are in there are not registering and the machine will not start. Slam that door :)

There are NO hangers or for that matter a handy place to lay clothes in the laundry room. Trying to iron a shirt and a pair of pants? - either bring a hanger or you will end up trying to balance one while you iron the other.

You MUST use your KTTW card to pay. Kind of makes me wish I knew that before I brought a roll of quarters with me.

Shows mentioned were what we saw on Magic recently along with "Once Upon A Song", a reprise of some classic Disney songs from the movies.
