Do you get immediate access to your room upon boarding or is it like a hotel and the room may or may not be ready just yet?? (We have a 12:30-1:00 boarding slot)
I believe you need to wait until after 1:30....

Well things have changed a little. None of the resorts have check in desks anymore. So you will have to do that once you reach the port. If you purchased Disney transfers, they will pick you up at any Disney resort. The resort will let you know about what time the transfers will pick you up.
Loving this thread - thanks for all of the help!
Is there a washer & dryer room on the Disney Dream? (I know they have dry clean services, but wondering about a regular coin op). Going on a 4 night, then to Disney for another 5 nights and don't want to waaaay overpack.
Thanks again!

I thought it was 2:00 PM.
Either way, all of the rooms open at the same time. There will be barriers (those tension barrier things they use for line control) across the entraces to the stateroom halls. When the porters have ALL of the guestrooms ready, then they remove those barriers all at once, and all staterooms are opened.
Your luggage may or may not be there yet, but the room is open for your use.

Ah, I have never used a resort check in, and the last two cruises only used Disney transfers on the return leg, so I have not really paid attention to it.

It should be something like this, not in this order:
All Aboard Show - Which includes characters and one or two variey acts
Villians Tonight - A musical starring the villains
Disney Dream - It's an award winning musical
Twice Charmed - A new twist on the Cinderella story
Remember the Magic - Final show with variety acts from the cruise
The other nights will be rounded out with movies and/or variety acts.
Ok, not so much a question, rather just want a little clarification to make sure I understand this right. So if I am staying at a Disney resort and using DCL transfers, I will still have to check-in at the port for the cruise b/c there are no longer cruise check-in desks at the Disney resorts, correct? And if I am using DCL transfers to the port, DCL will get my bags at my resort and I will not see them again until I get to my stateroom?

That's correct!
FYI, if anyone is staying at the MCO Hyatt and using transfers, you can check in for the cruise at the airport as early as 8:30. It's a great set up. They are generally given low boarding numbers and get to the port pretty early. They pick up your luggage from your hotel room.
Just the Hyatt??
There is! It's not a coin operation, you use your key to the world card to pay.
Spot On
