What are the chances of an upgrade to a verandah room on The Fantasy next August should they not sell out?? ( i know, a LONG shot )

Do you mean purchasing an upgrade at the port? If it's not sold out and you get there early, it's possible.

If you're talking about a pixie dust upgrade, like Dave said it's unlikely. It does happen, but it's rare.

Another Question:wave:

I just went into my reservation for next year and when i pressed change room type all the original room prices were the same as when i booked!

It says $350 to change to a verandah room is this correct? Does it lock in all room prices or if i click into these will the current price show up??

We have an inside room booked at $3300
Current price is $5900

Are the original prices for all rooms locked in upon booking??

I believe they are. That's not a hard and fast rule, but it does seem to happen.

My second comment is - $350 for a verandah? TAKE IT!!!

Yeah it would only be €240!!!

Yeah once you click on change stateroom the list comes up and all the original prices including my 10% off that we got onboard in June are still listed!!

Now the problem is.... Verandah or Magic Porthole????:shrug::veryconfu

On the subject of pixe dust upgrades.....

Are there any sort of hard and fast rules for them?

I know with airlines it all depends on when you book, when you check in, when you are placed on the upgrade list and what your frequent flyer status is.

Does DCL go by any sort of rules. Such as when you booked the cruise, and what your Castaway Club status is?

No! It's a bit maddening. They don't seem to be any rules for the upgrades. Well, one rule. If you are linked to other cabins it's much less likely you'll be upgraded.

Otherwise it doesn't seem to matter what level Castaway Club number you are, how early you booked, etc.

It's truly random and at Disney's whim. When they need to make room in a category, they move someone out.

It's super cool, don't get me wrong. But it's still not the same as being out on your verandah watching the ocean.:)

Yeah thats what im thinking plus the room is a nice bit bigger and the bathroom looks great, ill have a think about it and keep an eye on the verandah room availability :D

We loved the verandah, but we were not aware that smoking is allowed on the verandah, and we were next to a HEAVY smoker. Daughter has asthma, so we couldn't spend enough time on verandah to justify the expense.

Forr $300 we reckon the extra room could be enough to justify it :D

If you like bathroom space, then it can be a big difference. The verandah rooms come with a split bathroom, and some of the inside staterooms (the vast majority on the Dream), have a single bathroom. I think there are only 12 Deluxe Inside Staterooms in the Dream.

It's definitely better. The set up is so much easier. Each station has something different so you don't have to wait behind people getting something you don't want.

It's a little confusing at times because the CMs don't want you to stand in line at all. They keep encouraging people just to go up and grab what they want. We Americans are liner uppers. We still form lines at every station. And give dirty looks to people who don't get in those lines.

It's also nice that the CMs find you somewhere to sit.
