Disney Channel Rocks ALSO closing

Sure they could, if they hadn't stuck it way in the back in a corner where no-one could even find it. I've seriously seen the Earful Tower more often driving past the park than while walking around inside of it. Poor placement killed it as an icon, nothing more. If they'd stuck it where the Brown Derby is it would have fit into the theme and been a good photo spot while also letting the Theater be the main thing guests see walking in.
Back in the day when the park was first designed, the Earful Tower was actually much more visible. When the park was created, the original Backlot Tour was one of the biggest attractions and the Earful Tower was one of the major sights along the way. However, as the park's purpose morphed from actual working studio attraction to being singularly a theme park, the subsequent additions and changes made to the existing attractions marginalized the visibitlty of the icon.

So in summary, the Earful Tower concept worked with the original vision and execution of the park experience, but its status was undermined by the changes in the parks layout and purpose.

Thank goodness, both those shows were horrible! BPB wasn't that bad... but when they changed it to Countdown to (no) Fun, that was painful. And DC Rocks, well, do I even need to comment on that one!?!

Hopefully there are good things ahead for DHS...

You are telling me you don't enjoy hearing the same crappy Disney channel songs every hour? Or the same fraction of a song over and over as a slow moving parade of creepy looking characters and people dressed awkwardly rolls by? 5...4...3...2...FUN!!!!!

In all honesty, I'm not surprised. In fact, I'm relieved that I can go back into the park without having the hear that nonsense and having to dodge a crowd so I can ride Tower for the 150th time.

But, I like the cartoonish hat...maybe because I am younger and don't remember the park before the hat, or maybe because The Great Movie Ride was ruined when I was stuck next to Tarzan and "Cheetah" for 45 very long minutes.

I've never seen a parade at DHS, but he DCR drives me crazy. To be honest, I'm just excited that it looks like something is gonna happen at DHS. I don't care as much about the BAH or the theatre. I do want a GMR that doesn't loom like crap though.

I have never seen the Paris Park so I cant pass judgement on it, but it could be build better if the right people have the freedom to create a great park. It is ok to think positive about thing.

It's odd that considering how often people complain about TDO cutting back, but when TDO makes two big cuts (CTF and DCR) fans are singing praises...did these entertainment options appeal to everyone? No, but they entertained a lot of people. I could understand the rejoice from people if they were being replaced with something better but they aren't. They're being closed with no replacements. So now DHS has lost a show and their parade.

We don't know for sure the reason CTF and DCR are gone and you shouldn't make any judgements without knowing for sure. The fact is if construction is being planned, Disney has a history of not doing parades on the parade route or entertainment route. The 2nd is thing Disney has plans of summer attraction announcements next month and it is possible DHS might be getting that.

Honest to God, it's better that they have no parade if this is the best they can do. Normally that would not be my position, but it was embarrassing. I thought CADCT was bad until I saw CTF.

In the past when there were changes to parades and entertainment, wouldn't the closure announcement and the replacement announcement go hand in hand? (If they were bringing something in from DCA). Doesn't the way this was handled lean toward pure budget cuts or prep work for expansion/refurbs of some kind?

I am glad both DC Rocks and the CDTF parade are going away. Even my 8 yr old doesn't like the parade (now that is a shame). What I really want to see is DHS revamp the GMR with some new sets. Leave the Wizard of Oz and Casablanca but change maybe the Aliens scene, the gangtser scene (heck do something for the Godfather or Goodfellas) so forth.

The world isn't black and white im afraid. I find it hard to believe that we wont see replacements for these offerings down the road. Now if they close and then we hear nothing for months on end and no rumors surface, then you can bet we will raise a stink!

There were rumblings that they wanted to cut the Entertainment Budget at the Studios. When the rumors around wholesale reworkings of the park were circulating around this board, there was talk that Disney wanted to get out of the stunt show business as well. I wouldn't be surprised if part of the larger scale change to that park is a decrease in overall entertainment spending.

As the park whose theme is the most squarely based off of entertainment, this makes tons of sense.

With the news of these outdated parades being trimmed and the fact that Disney owns Star Wars, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Star Wars parade taking on a more prominent daily role, greater than simply four weekends a year. Not a rumor, just an opinion. OK, more like a dream. :)
