It also feels organic because a future set movie might want to speculate what advertising looks like in the future. Apparently the future is Atari.
The future is also Pan Am and the Bell System. It's gonna be great!

I really liked that trend, those were good times.Minions 2 had the viral benefit of youngsters going out to see it all gussied up. I'm not sure that sort of thing will be recreated here.

The Rise of #Gentleminions: Why Gen-Z Is Wearing Suits to See ‘Minions: The Rise of Gru’
#Gentleminions, a new trend on TikTok involving wearing suits to see "Minions: The Rise of Gru," exploded over the film's opening weekend.variety.com
For some reason they didn't want the Amico though. It might be. They just finally bought Intellivision, and I'm not at all joking.
The most morbidly hilarious and deranged product placement is when Lakeith Stanfield is giving a tearful monologue about how his wife died and he works in a line about how she stopped at Baskin Robins.Yikes.
You hate to think how much more money over its already bloated $160 Million budget Disney would have spent without all those product placements.![]()
The one positive to Garfield snd Furiosa not succeeding at the box office… is it could be leading to more variety at the theaters… I saw some reports in the trades that there is 3 new releases this weekend, but they weren’t sure how wide as they would all be competing for screens with the big releases…the local theater I go to most appears to not have any movies in more than 1 theater…. They have all the bigger films…plus they do have all 3 new releases, films such as Babes, I saw The TV Glow, and a couple of re-releases
IMO more variety will only help the exhibition space… there have been weeks when a big release will get 4 or 5 screens… which I think could cause some to turn away not caring for the blockbuster of that week…a big release really only needs 2 max…perhaps one in the big ultra screen and 1 in a regular theater who don’t want to pay those prices… the bigger movies are on so many screens typically here… If I go see 1 even on the opening weekend… they don’t come close to selling out, but when I see a smaller movie…the theater can be packed( of course it is in the smaller theater too)variety will only open the theater to more types of filmgoers
In Disney-specific news, Young Woman and the Sea comes out this weekend. I haven't seen it reported yet, but I would guess it's getting less than 1000 screens based on what I see in my market.
It was discussed in this thread before as being on the release schedule for Disney. Its a biopic about a US Olympic Swimmer who was the first female to swim the English Channel, it was originally a D+ Exclusive that they decided to move to a theatrical release due to last years strikes. Its a Jerry Bruckheimer production so I expect its pretty good.I hadn't noticed that listed on the calendar of releases, but I went back and looked and... sure enough. It's apparently a Walt Disney Studios film and it is in "limited" release starting Friday the 31st. Who knew?
I couldn't find any information on what its production budget is. There's very little info about it in general. Odd.

Bob Iger would buy it.For some reason they didn't want the Amico though.
As of now it has an 86% on Rotten TomatoesIt was discussed in this thread before as being on the release schedule for Disney. Honestly I would love to see it. Then we can hear Bob say "See!!! I told you this video game stuff wasn't popular!"Bob Iger would buy it.
Apes 9: Production $160, Theatrical Marketing $40, 60% Domestic B.O. $78, 40% Overseas B.O. $68 = $54 Million Theatrical Loss so far
Fixed that for you.![]()
Oh, now I'm even more confused. I thought your model was that a film broke even at 2.5 times its production budget?
If that's the case, then Apes 9 breaks even under that formula at $400 Million. (160 Million times 2.5 = 400)
But that would mean that using the 2.5x formula, Apes 9 is at a 99 Million loss, right?
Apes 9: $160 Production Budget times 2.5, Global Box Office $301 = $99 Million Loss
Vs.
Apes 9: Production $160, Marketing $80, 60% Domestic B.O. $78, 40% Overseas B.O. $68 = $94 Million Loss

I don't know if you follow the Amico story but it was a scam run by Tommy Tallerico to steal money from investors on a new console. It would totally be right up Bob's alley to invest in this vaporware.Honestly I would love to see it. Then we can hear Bob say "See!!! I told you this video game stuff wasn't popular!"
Unfortunately I do. I just feel bad for the regular people who came on to the team thinking they were part of something.I don't know if you follow the Amico story but it was a scam run by Tommy Tallerico to steal money from investors on a new console.
