Person A: "This apple is terrible it tastes nothing like the orange I had this morning!"

Person B: "Well, that is because it is an apple and not an orange."

Person A: "What's the difference? They are both fruit they both grow on a tree!"

Person B: "Well, they are both fruit but they are different fruits"

Person A: "Well, if a tree was going to produce fruit it should be exactly the same fruit all the time!"

Person B: "I actually like both apples and oranges."

Person A: "How can you possibly like apples?!?! They are nowhere near as good as oranges!"

Person B: "I like them both, it's just that I don't think you should be comparing APPLES AND ORANGES"

yea but the only thing against that is indy and dinosaur isn't exactly apples and oranges.

Except it is...the only thing they have in common is the ride system and track.

You can say you like one better than the other, but to dislike one because the other is better is bad logic. They are not the same ride.

For as well done a ride as it is, you almost never hear anyone talk about it. Which to me makes it the biggest suprise for first timers. I remember not expecting such tension from anything disney as i felt on this ride. Having rode Indiana Jones first, i still believe dinosaur is the better ride because you are looking over your shoulder once the big guy looks at you like your a happy meal. I do remember the tyradactol being more active the first few times i rode it and now it just sits there looking like its broken. They need to fix it because it was a nice little touch when you least expected it.

I think the issue is that when Indy opened at DL, it was very popular and still is. It's one of the best experience rides that Disney has ever created. I think people were very hopeful they'd add it to WDW, but instead we got CTX/ Dinosaur, which in many people's opinions is not the same level of experience

glad you liked it...I enjoy them both too.

BTW, the Pteradactyl has never moved. It has always just been a lighting trick, and when you don't know what's coming, it works, but once you've seen it, the trick doesn't work as well the second time. It is simply hard mounted on a post to the ceiling and they play a loud sound effect (go figure, Dinosaur being loud), and hit it with a light really quick.

I agree that people always will make the connections with IJ, but they are still two completely different rides. There had been long standing rumors of the IJ ride going to the Studios...who knows what will happen there. But the technology was available so they made a ride themed better to AK.

well that is what i mean

people should not be comparing the themes of it...because it is ...different.

like muppets 3d and philar....different ....

one of my biggest complaints from this ride if you read earlier was that i didnt like how it is jerky...that is all. or else i would be cool with it.

Sorry to say, but you are wrong about the Mother Ceradactylus, It always moved in the beginning and it still can move now. They just have it turned off. (actually, it was a safety concern in the beginning) But it could have been corrected easily.

And there is at least 20 other special effects turned off also. Dinosaur could be a really great ride, if only they gave it some TLC. It is embarassing for some of the people who actually work on those things and they just let things fall in disrepair or just simply turned off.

I appreciate the technology but I don't care much for the ride. I generally skip it, but have been on it a couple of times. Couldn't vote in the poll as "okay but don't make an effort to ride it" wasn't an option.

I love Dinosaur (though I prefer Indiana Jones), they're both very fun rides. As for the broken effects... I know of a few, but could someone list all the effects that currently don't work or are turned off, particularly the major notice-able ones?

Its easy to compare Dinosaur and Indy, not so much because the share the same track, but because they are very similar in their approaches as theme park rides. There aren't a whole lot of Disney attractions that go in the direction these two do (unfortunately!) so it is easy to compare how successful they are in their take on the "intense dark ride", if you will.

I agree they are two different rides with their own advantages and disadvantages, but they are easy targets for comparison for these reasons.

That's what I thought you meant...so they are really different rides using the same technology.

I also understand why people like to compare them, but they are in fact different. I understand things like "I think Dinosaur is too jerky, while Indy is a smoother ride" You are comparing the technology.

It is stuff like "OMG Indy is just such a better ride than Dinosaur" That drive me nuts because...well...they are two different things. I enjoy the Haunted Mansion more than I do It's a Small World. But to compare the two rides is kind of unfair. Whether I enjoy IASW or not is irrelevant to the fact that I enjoyed the Haunted Mansion.

I enjoy the ride, it is a must see when we are in the park...

My friends and I all agree the best part is the pre show with Phylicia Rashad. She cracks us up!

"I have arrived, it seems, just in time to correct a little misstatement... I can assure you that all time rovers have been securely locked on those coordinates."

Love it! :ROFLOL:

I can safely say I hate - HATE - Dinosaur. It hit me in the face and spit goo on me and all it did to make it up to me was give me one of those wildlife donation buttons to cover up the stain on my shirt the goo left.

It's a very rude ride.

I don't hate the ride, but its not a "must see" when I'm at Animal Kingdom. Its something that if I'm there and the line isn't too long, then I'll ride. If there had been a category of "Ride it once to see it, but otherwise don't bother," that's where I would have been.

Go on it to see it, but for me, its too loud, too far-fetched, and too fast-paced.

My Entire Family including myself all enjoy this ride a lot!!! It is a must see every trip and the jerkiness adds to the adventure! I will never forget the look on kids (and parents) faces when animal kingdom first opened and this ride was "Countdown To Extinction". The fear in their eyes when they got off in unrivaled by any disney ride with the possible exception of Alien Encounter (RIP). I believe the dinosaurs on this ride are much better than the ones in the Jurassic Park Ride at IOA.
