Dinner ideas at MK for 1st night?

Hello,

I am going to WDW mid-May and when I booked this year was offered a free basic dining package. Everyone in my family was very excited as this will take away quite a bit of cost!

With that, our first day (we arrive in the afternoon) we are going to MK and then to Epcot for an EMH closing. Since we'll have two meals for the day, we are deciding to combine our meal credits and have a sit down dinner. I saw there are only 3 sit down places in MK. Anyone have recommendations for MK.. or is there something better at Epcot?

We don't care if it's fancy or gourmet - just good food and a fun/pleasant atmosphere. Not picky at all; just like'd to start off our first night with a good meal.

Hello there! Both parks offer up a collection of wonderful restaurants. In MK I just adore Liberty Tree Tavern...it kind of takes you back in time! It's a great sit down meal with a wonderful atmosphere. Crystal Palace is great with a huge dinner buffet and I'm not sure of your children's ages...but they have the Pooh characters also.

At Epcot..you have so many options it's crazy because I pretty much like them all! :) A couple that are my faves are Rose and Crown, Teppan Edo (which can get loud but I just love the servers cooking my food right in front of me and it tastes awesome) Via Napoli is the new Italian option there...I could go on and on. Biergarten is a fun sit down buffet with entertainment and the ambiance is to die for - it's just like you are in Germany.

Good luck in your planning!

It all depends on what you are looking for. I would choose Tony's for dinner in Magic Kingdom, nice Italian meal. Now with Epcot the doors open up to so many choices, anything really. You have the World Showcase to play with. If you were hopping the monorail to get to Epcot from MK you then have some awesome resort choices to add. Your possibilities are endless, what are you looking for, what do you think your party will like?

This is just a reminder that you get your points based on the number of nights that you stay, not the number of days.

Since we'll have two meals for the day, we are deciding to combine our meal credits and have a sit down dinner.

If you are combining table service points, you can eat at a signature place like California Grill or Le Cellier.

If you want to just use one of your TS points, read the menus at Liberty Tree Tavern and a few places in the World Showcase. See what appeals to you more. I like Chefs de France.

We never eat TS at Magic Kingdom. If we ever did I'm sure Tony's Town Square would be the one to visit.

Another option is taking the monorail over to the Polynesian or Grand Floridian. At the Poly they have Kona Cafe (can easily get an ADR) and Ohana (not so easy to get an ADR) and at Grand Floridian they have the Grand Floridian Cafe. We have eaten/will eat at this coming May all these places. I can only speak for Kona and GFC but both were delicious and it's a great to see both gorgeous resorts.

EPCOT is (in my opinion) the best place to eat...counter service OR table service! For table service I'd recommend:
Teppan Edo
Via Napoli
Tutto Italia
Le Cellier
Coral Reef

At MK - I would suggest Crystal Palace or really going all out and dining at Cinderella's Royal Table. If you go to Epcot - there are loads of good places - such as Le Cellier and Rose and Crown, Via Napoli.

I'll second the decide on something quick response. It's getting kind of late in the game. You might want to call and see what's available for that night. Your options might be limited.

I have to agree with many fellow posters. I would pick either Crystal Palace if you want a buffet with character experience, Winnie the Pooh and friends. Or Tony if you want a calm dinner. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is very good, you must try the steak, it is out of this world.

In Epcot you have many options. My choice would be Chef de France, I believe it is the best bang for your credit. Once again try the steak. Other good choices are Mexico and Garden grill if you want a character buffet. I would definitly avoid Via Napoli, the pizzas are not that great and why waste a credit for pizza if you cant get filet mignon instead. I made the mistake of using a credit for Via Napoli and I was very dissapointed. I saw the bill price after the meail and it would have been $100 if I did not have the ddp that is for 2 adults and 1 child eating pizza !! I assure you if I would have had to pay $100 for that meal I would have had a fit and more than one italian waiter would have said , Mama Mia ! :ROFLOL:

We need time for things to happen.

Im a bit confused by your post and just want to be clear as a few posters have mentioned, if your talking about this coming may your choices for a sit down meal - table service are going to be inredibly limited, so first things first check whats available all our suggestions arent going to mean anything if you cant get in!

Secondly to be clear you cannot combine two quick service meals and get a table service meal....if that is in fact what you are thinking.

Either way good luck and you will have a great time no matter where you end up eating!

Yeah.. it's this May as in 5 weeks. This is my first time using any sort of dining package as it was offered to us free. I guess I misread how it works.. so "quick service" meals cannot be combined towards a sit down dinner at all?

Correct - if your meal plan was the quick service meal plan, you do not get any table service credits. If it was the regular disney dinig plan, you get 1 table credit & 1 quick service credit per night. On that plan, you could use 2 night's table credits for 1 signature dining meal, but that is the only "combining" allowed.

Hey there Red Fox, Nope you are correct, you cannot combine quick service meals to add up to a table service meal at all. Also your credits are based on a per night, not a per day as you are thinking. Here is the booklet that explains the Dining plan and gives you a lot of good information: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/me...alog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_us/PDF/2011Dining.pdf
I hope this information is helpful. Marie
