It is has just been bumped back form summer to fall. Still going ahead.
That explains the confusion.

No.
This is just a one room thing.
Set your expectations on "low".
from the (apparently accidental) press announcement: “This is going to be an immersive experience,” Jason told us. “We’ll really delve into the story of Captain Jack Sparrow and put our Guests in the middle of it all in new and exciting ways.
a first-of-its-kind sensory experience in which Guests will have the chance to be enveloped by the world of the Pirates of the Caribbean
So, did the budget get killed or drastically reduced? Because, from reading the press, it sounded like a new interactive experience.
Based on the plans I have...So, did the budget get killed or drastically reduced? Because, from reading the press, it sounded like a new interactive experience.
You guys are making it sound like another typical walk-through showing a few props from the movies.
I never viewed the hat as one of the main icons.....I always viewed the Earful Tower as the icon for Hollywood Studios.
As for this attraction, I wonder if this will be open by end of September? May be nothing special, burt at least its something new.
Based on the plans I have...
The entire building will have three "scenes": The entry vestibule, the main show room, the post-show gallery.
The main room is oddly shaped, with a mock up of part of a ship in one corner. Around the room are a couple more areas for effects to take place.
It is not that large, roughly 40' per side.
From what I have seen/know, it will be a nice little diversion. Certainly better than Narnia. But...it won't be a major attraction. I'm not trying to knock it, because it looks pretty nice. I just don't want people thinking there it's something that it isn't.

Exactly--it's not groundbreaking, but it sounds pretty nice. Perfect for mid-afternoon when all of the rides have long lines.Thank you Lee. I think that sets my expectations at just the right level for me. Nice enough to take my Pirates crazy nephews to see, but nothing I need to plan my day around seeing.
How big is the facility is it like the Walt Disney story building with multiple rooms?

I'd love a ride where you rode through in a small pirate ship with an electronic cannon. You could shoot different pirate things at different images on big video screens. It would be awesome to pass through different areas and toss coins or shoot cannon balls or swords, even a food fight busting bottles of "rum". At the end you could add up your points and see if you made "Captain"
I can see this as a very popular ride. Probably would even end up as a "must do".
It's not negativity. Its just facts. It's a small walk through exhibit. I wouldn't call it an attraction. A line outside, a preshow / holding area, the main exhibit space, and an exit area. Believe me, I do wish it were more. But as is it'll take a few hundred people off the streets and offer a nice diversion for a half hour.Because being negative is more fun for some people!
:hurl:
Am I expecting this to be Toy Story Mania level attraction? of course not.. but it definately sounds like a new fun experience either way..
Small attractions are attracions too...
