All Disney has to do to get big crowds in Disney Hollywood Studios is have a "Blue Sky" area showing drawings, models and details of the upcoming "lands". This alone would drive people into the park.
you really expect to drag the whole band to a single park per day? a bunch of 15-18 year olds? that is cute. back in 96 - wow way back, they gave us passes and where chaperones would be in each park, and let us goI'm chaperoning a marching band trip during spring break. I'm trying to talk the director out of going to DHS but he's set on seeing Fantasmic. What will be open March-April?
My HS marching band went in 2006 and we all had to go to the same park each day, but we were free to roam about on our own. We just had two times each day that we had to check-in at a designated area w/ chaperones. It worked out really well.you really expect to drag the whole band to a single park per day? a bunch of 15-18 year olds? that is cute. back in 96 - wow way back, they gave us passes and where chaperones would be in each park, and let us go

Hi Boufa, The fact that this park is generally considered weaker than the others to start is a good point. Mulch was the ONLY band in DHS, as opposed to the other parks which I believe has at least a few musical options in each. That is a great example of cutting entertainment where there isn't much to start with. Jedi Training academy is down for a few weeks at least, which is a wildly popular attraction as well. Why? Couldn't this be moved to a temporary location in the meantime? Just too much being cut at the same time with no clear view of stuff to come soon. I was in the load/unload area for the Backlot Tour in May for the Star Wars Weekend shops. Nothing was done on an attraction that had been closed for slightly over 6 months at that point, and I am sure if I could get back there today, I would see the same amount of progress. I do agree, the attraction needed to be closed but, if you aren't doing something with the area, why bother? I love the Studios, and think when it is done it will be amazing but the way this is being done is going to cripple the park and make for a lot of very unhappy guests, both fans and newbies alike. When you are spending a good deal of money on a trip and in comparison to the other Disney parks, when a family is done with all of the attractions they want to do by noon or so, Guest Relations will be getting paid a visit and I wouldn't want that job when it happens! Marie
Hardly. For a few hundred geeks maybe. All Disney has to do to get big crowds in Disney Hollywood Studios is have a "Blue Sky" area showing drawings, models and details of the upcoming "lands". This alone would drive people into the park.
Exactly. I have several relatives planning trips to WDW for next year and didn't have a clue that any of this was going on. I've got to believe a good percentage of visitors will not know of closures or what's planned until they arrive at WDW.Hardly. For a few hundred geeks maybe.
Crowds will carry on going because tourists will know no better.
Then again I haven't really been watching this thread so...It might be just me, but I'm a little underwhelmed by these announcements for the two new lands. I am very excited for them and think they will be great, but this is not the park makeover I was expecting. When rumors and announcements came out I thought we would get an entire re-imagining of all of the park and more than just slapping two lands into it so people forget that the other parts of the park with the empty buildings and tired rides in need of a refurb are there. I am probably wrong, or maybe they are just waiting to do that, but I don't know.

I'm sure that is true to an extent, but, I know better and yet there are a lot of things at DHS that I enjoy. ToT, RnRC, Toy Story, Muppets, Indy, Star Tours and others... so I go every visit. The stuff that was taken out are mostly things that didn't interest me to begin with. Don't get me wrong, the closed (non-fenced) attractions are an abomination and smack in the face of how you do business and not look like your are going under. But, there are still things there that make my hopping option worthwhile.Hardly. For a few hundred geeks maybe.

Okay thank youAs other have said, it's very likely that these two lands are NOT the extend of the refurb DHS is getting.
just sticking my big toe into this thread.....but has anyone ran crowd impact estimates on the other 3 parks for the time when DHS will be under its heavy construction period? I'm assuming most people will be choosing to just flat out skip DHS on their trips, and aside from Universal, the crowd has to be dispersed between the other 3 parks.
