DHS Hat....

I agree and disagree. If we never DHS to have The Chinese Theater at the end of Hollywood Blvd, we all would probably like it a whole lot more!

But since it blocks that iconic view, I can see why it's disliked.

I'm with you Suller, I think the Chinese Theater is cheesy at best. The hat looks great and should never be removed. I've never been to MGM...ooops i meant DHS without it and I hope I never do.

I don't dislike the hat. I like the hat. It's a big hat - what's not to like?!

But I hate where they put it. I want the old view back.

I don't know if it is possible, but I'd move it to DTD. I also kind of like the idea of putting it near a road, but too many peeps would be having accidents while trying to take pics of it. I wonder if they could put it at the airport. I don't know...I just really don't like it where it is.

Am I the only one that doesn't think it's that bad?

I'm fully expecting several.... "yes" replies.
You are brave to post that you like the hat.;)

I have mixed feelings about it. I like the idea of DHS having a focal point and the hat wasn't a bad idea, although I wish they had executed it better. I am disappointed it's a pin trading store. It seem so cheap compared to the other parks.

By the way, I also liked the pre-hat view too but recognize that others don't. Just an opinion.

I love the hat and do not have a problem with the location. And before all the fanbois post pics of what it was like before the hat... I had seen it plenty in those days. Still doesn't bother me.:D

Its presence doesn't bother me, but I think it would look better elsewhere. It just breaks the whole theme of the area its in right now and its removal to elsewhere would make its current location more visually pleasing to the eye.

There was a rumor circulating that Disney *had* to keep the Chinese Theater from being a key focal point, due to some sort of dispute from the owners of the original theater in Hollywood. Then there were rumors that this was certainly not true, and only a myth.

I don't know what to believe. And of course Disney will tell you that the whole legal issue with the original theater is a "myth" (afterall, does the company ever admit when it screws up?) So why not claim it's an urban legend, and let people believe the hat has lingered on purpose?

Despite the reason as to why the Chinese Theater got upstaged, I do not like the hat where it is.
