DHS CARS LAND

The could build the same ride and retheme it. Like Indiana Jones Adventure and Dinosaur.

Then we will be on these boards complaining that MonstersInc Land is not as good as CarsLand and Disney should build CarsLand in Magic Kingdom.

We need time for things to happen.
I'm really surprised at some of the posters getting upset about DHS getting CL or some piece of it for that matter.
I do get that if it was just a "piece" RSR for example and the rock work or some other part was done half-a$$ed,
but that seems to be jumping the gun a bit.

I'm by no means a 'blue sky baby' or a 'doom & gloomer' for that matter but it would seem that any kind of attention that DHS could get at this point especially anywhere near this expected scale should be something EXTREMELY welcome regardless if it's a clone or a brand spanking new idea.

And on the 'cloning' point --- hasn't Disney been cloning things right from the very begining right back to1974?;)

I can think of 1700 reasons why it is is hard to get on a plane and fly to DCA.

Let's see...

-Don't like/afraid of flying
-Family members don't like/afraid of flying
-Can't afford it (but you could save couldn't you?)
-California and it's people rub you the wrong way
-Maybe you live close enough to WDW that you don't see the point of flying out to see something "similar enough" to what you got right down the road?
-That's all I got...1,695 for to go o_O

Has anyone heard of a actual budget yet? It took over a BILLION dollars to get Carsland up and running at DL. While they might save a little on development from recycling, you're still going to need at least the same investment money wise to do the thing justice.

Thats a lot of money, and if you include Avatar, thats serious cash for the theme parks.

Ah yes. Reason #3, or #1 depending on who you ask. I get it. Times are tough but WDW ain't the dollar store.

Since the exact rationale for the number chosen by MasterYoda seems very important, perhaps I can clarify. It doesn't take 1 dollar to get to DL, it takes 1700 of them. Of course, your actual number may vary based on time of year and the amount of people in your party. More to your original point, travelling with kids isn't as easy as just hoping on a plane, and suprisingly, much of Disney's clientelle happens to have kids.

I would be careful about limiting things to gender. My son was a "dude" and he always loved the princess things. There are a lot of little boys who love princess things and imagining themselves as Prince Phillip or Aladdin or Flynn Rider and there are little girls who love the Cars characters and stomping around like the Queen of the Pirates.

I am not big on saying this is for boys and this is for girls because i think each gender can find play roles in whatever attraction. The only thing I will say in all of the parks that IS exclusively for little girls is Bibbidi Bobbodi Boutique. I know some parents take little boys in there to put glitter in their hair or whatever but that to me is just special thing for girls.

Ah geez.

I'm pretty sure that figure was for the entire facelift of DCA (Buena Vista Street, Mermaid, WoC, Carsland), not just for Carsland. I assume that it was a pretty large chunk of that budget but not that whole thing.

Someone brought up a great point that this is going to put Epcot in a very strained position. With MK (and potentially AK and DHS) getting huge expansions and Epcot just getting Test Track v2...there's going to be a bit of shareshift at the turnstyles when all is said and done. Lets hope a new country with a major attraction or revamped Future World Pavilion is in the works.

It comes down to a simple thing, value for my dollar. I can go to DL for 4 days in a year or spend about 14 or more days in WDW for roughly the same price.

That billion also bought the park The Little Mermaid, Buena Vista Street and all of the other smaller changes like the retheming of parts of Paradise Pier.

Have you guys been out there yet? I get that you have to add airfare to your DL trip where you don't have that expense to visit WDW, but when my wife and I visited DL and stayed on property we spent a total of $3000 for 6 days for everything, tickets, lodging, meals, souveniers, airfare.

Not yet. We could swing $3k for the two of us. The problem is that there are 4 of us, at minimum 3. Airfare alone for the 4 of us to get there is in the $1500-$2000 range depending on the time of year. The wife was pricing a trip just a few days ago and it was around $5k with staying on property.

Maybe I'm a skeptic but why would an imagineer risk his job to leak a proposed project on these boards? Especially since he has a face picture displayed. Either not an imagineer, Disney wanted it leaked, or this guy doesn't want his job anymore. Non disclosure agreements are a pretty big deal and they wouldn't have to investigate really hard to find the "leak"
