The Great Mickey Ride will be good. It's just in absolutely the wrong place and is being squeezed in for the wrong reasons.

I'll be riding Flight for real in the fall. It'd be unfair for me to give my full thoughts until then. If anyone's interested.

As in Hollywood Blvd/Chinese Theatre being the wrong place? Any long term plan for main entrance retheme, perhaps Mickey Avenue?

It should fit thematically, the problem is that it's replacing GMR.

I really don't know why they don't gut the Animation/Launch Bay building for the Mickey ride. They could theme the queue to a tour through an old school animation studio before you jump into a Mickey Cartoon. They could then make that area of the park into purely oldtimey Disney area with One Man's Dream (either in it's current location or moved into either the Little Mermaid or Disney Jr building).

NOT replacing GMR and giving Mickey his own new purposefully built attraction seems to be one of the things EVERYONE agrees on...its amazing that TDO doesnt see it that way....seems to be the most obvious decision they could make regarding this...

Because after 28 years it's been decided the GMR costs too much to operate and would need a substantial investment to bring it up to modern standards.

Doesn't surprise me. It takes a sizable cast to run it, Guns are no longer considered PC for attractions and the attraction itself is completely worn out. Just refurbishing the ride vehicles would be several hundred K if not more than a million each to replace all the batteries, and various on-board electronics.

Indeed. The ride vehicles are currently limping, just like the more sophisticated Energy ones.

Screens are the media of today. We might as well get used to it until something new comes along. Free standing AA's may be something in the future, but, stationary storytellers have pretty much gone the way of the buggy whip.

I don't see why Disney can't make something as good or better than Mystic Manor for DHS. If they're building a MICKEY ride, by all means, feel free to blow it out Disney. I think he deserves it.
