Details on Space Mountain Refurb

lol

It's interesting how some really get upset if someone actually questions their "views." You're right, the usage of 'fanboy' is not meant to be endearing. The usage is meant to show the difference between fans and those that believe they have all the answers, but usually post primarily from self-centered motivation.

An accurate sampling of WDW visitors is taken from a cross-section of visitors AT the park or via a method of selection of recent visitors. By coming to this site, you are setting yourself apart from the MILLIONS of people that visit the parks. The number of REGISTERED (not even contributing) members here does not even equal the number of people in MK in a single day.

But, don't take my word for it... please, go to any site on the web and look at a user poll. It states "this is not a scientific poll." I know that some here want to think that by banding together with other (somewhat) like-minded people, they can assume they know what is best for the business of Disney. That's far from the truth.

Take a look at a post you made earlier...

Do you REALLY think the Imagineers are not looking at the big picture? Plus, at what point does what YOU think make sense mean it actually makes sense within their plans? True, having the TTA down while SpM is down does seem to be a good time for a refurb. But the problem with the statement is that WE do not have ALL the facts. If they do not make any changes to the TTA during the SpM refurb does not mean they screwed up. (The way you wrote that statement infers if they don't... it would be a mistake.) It just means they made a decision based on many factors we do not have access to.

I never implied or thought it did. I offered an opinion which any informed person is welcomed to come to these boards and correct if they would like. I realize I "do not have all the facts" which is why I said I "hoped" they were looking at the big picture. I NEVER said that they were not. And I did not "infer" anything, rather you assumed too much. I choose my words carefully.

I'm definitely hoping this is a refurb where the Imagineers are looking at the "big picture" and TTA is part of it. It only makes sense they would update it at the same time.
Ok, if you say so. But the implication of your post was fairly plain. You think they ignore the big picture (at least on other refurbs/projects) and if they don't do a refurb of the TTA, it wouldn't make sense.

Can I make the assumption that you now agree this forum is not a representation of the average guests at WDW since you didn't reply to the bulk of my post?

Like I said, it is my opinion. If an informed person wants to correct me that is more than fine with me (trust me I can take it if it's accurate).

Sorry but I do not agree with you that this forum is not representative if the average guest was as informed as the average visitor to this site. I know we don't know everything going on behind the scenes but we do know enough to offer an accurate and valuable representative feedback of the average guest's opinion. I do agree though it is not a "scientific" representation but it is also not without value. Now whether Disney takes advantage of this site for feedback is a totally different story.
I would hope they would because it wouldn't make sense if they didn't (in my opinion:drevil::lol:)

So yeah, Space Mountain refurb!... :lookaroun

Does anyone think that (besides Splash's annual refurb), having Space down for a whole year will throw off the schedule of the smaller, two to three week refurbs we've been seeing lately (like the current Jungle Cruise refurb or the upcoming work on Pirates)?

It appears to me (which is another way of saying "in my opinion"), that they have been working hard on so many refurbs so that when they take SM offline they will have all the other attractions available as much as is possible. I don't look for any extended shut downs next year except for Space Mountain.

I'm basing my statements off of what I see other board members say. It's a common fact that some/most people on here don't like MILF and SGE.

That's it.Nothing more.

First off I hate it when people argue points like this with "I like Monster's Inc, and I'm on these boards". However, I do think that people have definitely softened their views on Monster's Inc. After changes were made, it seemed that those that saw it again, or for the first time had different opinions. It seems similar things are happening now with Spaceship Earth.

I remember when the Disney portal announced that WDW's Space Mt. would soon close for a revamp like DL's...in late 2005. CMs at the MK were buzzing about it and thrilled. I was visiting the park that day, and a TL CM told me about it. I jumped on the portal and excitedly read the news.

Then the next day, the announcement was gone. Now we come to 2009, when the refurb finally happens.

Shows that even official Disney sources get it wrong.

Not really wrong...they just postponed it. Very common in the corporate world.

I have this feeling it will be postponed again.

Nope.
It's pretty much past the point of no return at this time. They'd feel kinda silly with a bunch of new track sitting over in the Pluto lot with no refurb to use it for.

And can we please rise above the snarky comments.

That's great! My students give me a hard time because they don't know anyone else who uses this word!

This refurb that loses SM and TTA will go fine, crowds can be absored into other areas (CoP, Stitch may acually have a wait of more than 5-10 and other areas of the park can absorb some). The toughest part will be the annual Splash refurb, but we survived HM and SSE being down at the same time (I get, different parks).

We did, too. It was very unpleasant at times, though. I really felt HM the effects of HM being closed. It wasn't so much on the lines (although some of the attractions were busier than usual) as I felt like my trip to WDW was kind of imcomplete. I was still in WDW which made me happy, but there was still a little something missing. SSE's closure really made Epcot seem a lot busier in terms of lines (especially M:S).

Heck, during our July visit, SSE was closed and UoE and Journey were both down. That didn't have a dramativ effect on lines for the day.

When in July did that happen? We were there the 2nd and 3rd weeks of July. We may have been in another park that day.

There will be a lot of safety issues to consider in keeping the TTA open. It will be interesting to see how that one works out.

Since when do the "people in charge" know whats best?? Take a look at the leaders of Enron, Hewlet-Packard, Home Depot, Gap, and even greedy Michael Eisner. These people ran businesses into the ground and tried (and in most cases suceded) to walk away with millions of dollars and partook in various unethical business pratices.

As are people who just read this site (both registered and non-registered) and people who actually go to the parks. So what would you consider an accurate sampling? People who never go to WDW? It's nonsense to think the opinions here are not representative of Disney fans in general.

It's assumed that if you come to this site you are a "fanboy" or "fangirl" and I think that includes you. I love how people use that term as an insult or pejorative now. It's usually said in a condescending tone. It sounds like you are saying, "you are all just "fanboys" but I, the great and awesome wannabadis, am so much smarter and know so much more that you should just be happy I bother to stop in here and set you morons straight".
Thank you.;)

But,yeah I honestly don't see this getting pushed back AGAIN....It's long over due.

Wow... it would be so easy for me to jump into this one... (which I'm sure Ethan would LOVE)...

Lucky for everyone involved I'm in training right now and don't have enough internet access to support myself.

I'm rooting for Todd! (The snarky one...)

Meh...fact's are routinely ignored or reinterpreted. If this refurb isn't done to match what is in certain poster's head (no one in particular) then it will be a failure and 10 threads a day about it will pop up. That's the way this forum and others work.

I aggree. A major decision that Disney needs to consider with a TTA refurb is that it will need to be made ADA compilant. The biggest problem in making TTA ADA compilant is the loading ramp and turntable. I wouldn't be looking for TTA to be included in the SM refurb.
