Yeah. I laughed out loud at that one.
It's true to a point. They needed more than one new E, for sure.
Trouble is, they needed at least 2 E tickets and maybe one C. Not one D and a bunch of M&Gs.

So you don't consider Mermaid an E?

Nope.
None of my WDI contacts do either.

Tower is an E.
Everest is an E.
Radiator Springs will be.
Pirates is an E. So is Mansion.

Mermaid will be cute, and nicely done. But it isn't on the level of those rides.
A solid D. A top level dark ride.

Figured as much.

I really didn't expect a Mansion level ride, even though that's what they said.

That's a shame. :(

Is this because of length or effects?

Just the overall experience. Good sets, nice music... But really just a step or two above the other darks. I'm not meaning any of this to be taken as a big complaint. It'll be a good addition to FL.

I suppose. I do think that it'll remain close to the E range, then, but that can't be determined until it opens.

It is my belief that this homogenous "princess" marketing to the tween market has really hurt Disney image. What used to be a premium collection of high quality animated adventure films have been reduced to "cartoons for little girls". I believe this is a big part of the reason why Princess and the Frog flopped. There was no princess merchandising in the 80s and thats why films like The Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast became huge sucess stories and ushered in the "second renaissance". Now moviegoers have been conditioned by Disney to think Princess and the Frog is another film like "Cinderella 3:Wrinkle in Time", "Little mermaid 2", or one of those . This is the same reason why Disney has now forced Lasseter to rename Rapunzel (dumb decision) and cancel "The Snow Queen" and "King of the elves" (even dumber decision). It is going to be very difficult to break the public psyche that these movies/charecters aren't just for little girls and their films are made on the cheap to make a buck.

This redo of toontown will not remedy the situation it glorifies it. If they were going to redo Fantasyland/Toontown do it properly like they did at Disneyland in the 80s or don't do it at all. A single e-ticket like an Indiana Jones, a Journey to the Center of the Earth, a Monsters Inc. Ride and Go Seek!, or a true Space Mountain overhaul would have created long term value for the Magic Kingdom. This fantasyland overhaul is the equivalent of putting a band-aid on a fleshwound.

My appologies for being negative but I just wanted to give my thoughts on the matter.

Just to be clear, you are aware that PatF has made almost $150 million between the domestic and international box offices, in less than two months, and going up against the high-grossing movie ever in Avatar? And that it's still being shown in both markets, and before the lucrative DVD release? Now, I'm not a huge fan of the "Princess" theme for the FL expansion, but let's not call a non-Pixar animated Disney film a flop just yet.....

While I agree with most of your post, the bolded, I do not. The FLE will pacify some of the needs of MK, and will draw people in, and will be of good quality. It looks to be a positive addition that WILL help things substantially. If they want to fix everything, however, it will take more construction, like you said.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Although I think certain parts of FLE are needed. TLM and the restaurants. Other than that, I agree.

I wouldn't call it a bomb, but it's a huge disappointment. Just look at all the blow back after it (Rapunzel name change, cancellation of Snow Queen, etc.)

Help? Yes.

Substantially? Possibly. Certainly won't help MK's image.

On the contrary, that's what I think it might help the most. A highly marketable, "New" Fantasyland is the perfect face for Disney.
