We’re talking about the MCU (Disney), not the world of superheroes in general.
We're not talking "the world of superheroes in general." You said he was "the first black main Marvel superhero." That's simply not true.

Again, Boseman's performance is iconic on its own merits. Lying about its place in Marvel film history diminishes your overall argument.

It is true, since I was clearly talking about the MCU. This is in reference to the Disney Legend Awards. Why would Halle Berry’s Catwoman come into the discussion??

That’s a fact, not a lie. This isn’t an argument.

Going forward, if you're going to laud the historical significance of something, it would be helpful to both know your history and use more precision in your language.

Why do Disney/MCU stans believe time began in 2008? This curiously happened again with Captain Marvel, lauding it as the "first" female superhero film (again, discounting Wonder Woman, Electra, Catwoman, and countless others).
Because the MCU DID begin in 2008, and Disney didn't buy Marvel until 2009?
Electra is one of the worst movies of all time. Catwoman isn't much better. Wonder Woman I'll give you, but I don't think they're inducting Gal Gadot as a Disney Legend for her performance in a DC movie.
Blade is a comic book movie, but he's not really a 'superhero'.

As far as the 'deserving of a Disney Legend' stupid *** argument goes:

1) If you think this is bad, look at who's in the WWE Hall of Fame.
2) Its not like there are actual qualifications or requirements.
3) Look at some of the people getting into sports HoFs now. Tim Raines? Please.
4) They have to induct some people each D23. Which means the pool must get shallower/deeper (depending on how you look at it).
5) They just added 'Diversity' to the Keys so of course they are going to add more diverse Legends to go along with it.
6) There's no physical location to go to view busts or plaques or anything.
7) It means literally nothing. It doesn't hurt anyone. Its just an empty honor for publicity and some ego stroking.

There should be more people in. They should be inducting 'famous' long time CMs like Maynard from DL.

I would say it would be helpful if you considered the context of the topic, and really just context clues in general. That way, the conversation won’t go left and irrelevant things won’t be brought up.

Anyways, have a good one.

Fine. You're one of those 'I'll pull out one little line because I know I'm wrong about everything else' people, eh.

There's no place where the public can go see the plaques.

Satisfied?

Why the need for "context clues" when your plain language and historical facts counter everything you said?

Be better next time. Wouldn't want to diminish your reputation for intelligence.

But you can go visit the Disney Legends Plaza - it's included in The Walt Disney Studios tour!

As far as your other points, I do think Boseman's deserving, so have no problem with the "diversity" issue (pt. 5). The cast of Frozen? A little self-serving. In turn,

1) Do you really want to equate DL to WWE?
2) agree
3) Baseball and pro football HOFs remain incredibly tough to get into, the latter increasingly so.
4) Generally agree, but wish it was weighted more to actual contributions than cynical synergy to promote/market upcoming films
7) probably true

1) I'm comparing one made up 'Hall of Fame' with the requirements set at someone's whim to another. Very interested to see the 2023 WWE HoF inductions with no Vince.
3) Tim Raines being in and A-Rod, Clemens, and Bonds being out makes the baseball Hall of Fame irrelevant. Football is also pretty irrelevant because the modern day numbers are going to be so out of wack that everyone who plays a long career will be viewed as 'deserving'.
4) They've done the synergy/theming thing for a long time with inductions:
'89 was Walt's 9 old men
'02 was all Europeans (Studios Paris opened)
'05 was all Parks and Resorts (DL 50th)
7) Does whoever going in keep anyone else out? No. Maybe for a single induction year if they only want to do a certain number of people, but just because they had Chadwick in doesn't mean they can't induct Anthony Mackie in 2024. Its not a limited number of places available.

Honestly the Frozen thing is whatever. I guess it would have made more sense around the Frozen 2 release, but I also can see the reasoning of inducting all of them at once instead of just Josh Gad or whoever.

So Joe Rohde, Eddie Sotto, Tom Morris, and a host of others aren’t “Disney Legends”, but Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters, and Robin Roberts are? That’s not a sexist comment, just some of the more egregious examples. Throw RDJ and Anthony Anderson in there if you’d like.

The “Disney Legend” award is about as meaningful as hair styling products in Bob Chapek’s bathroom.
It’s hard to argue RDJ doesn’t deserve it.

These things are all subjective. As a baseball fan I'm in favor of "judge the era". There's no way to know for sure who was clean and who was dirty other than a confirmed positive test. If you want to keep A-Rod out for that reason, I get it. That being said, for purposes of baseball I assume everyone in that era was/is dirty and I'm sure that there are dirty players in the Hall of Fame.

I think the threshold has been reduced in recent years and that has allowed the likes of Lee Smith, Tim Raines, Jack Morris, Harold Baines, Alan Trammel and other borderline guys to get in.

Back to the Disney Legends ceremony and Chadwick Boseman, he was the anchor of one of the biggest box office movies (#14) of all time and part of an ensemble in three others (#2, #5, #24). His death is why he's being inducted now, but ultimately that alone would also see his induction. Disney has inducted a series of Disney princesses with a reduced portfolio of Disney roles and anyone that truly objects to this has too much time on their hands. This is a celebratory award that is very arbitrary. It doesn't have a fan following like a sports hall of fame or the Academy Awards. There are no benchmarks or thresholds that have to be met in order to satisfy induction.

Tim Raines deserved a spot, but even if you don't think he did, there are still dozens of other players in the Hall who were not as good as him -- he was significantly better than other recent inductees like Jack Morris and Harold Baines, for example.

I agree that keeping out the PED guys is ultimately pointless, though.

Many older Hall of Famers, included widely celebrated ones (e.g. Willie Mays) are known established users of "greenies" (amphetamines) when those drugs - much like steroids in the 90's/2000's - were essentially commonplace and accepted as part of the game at the time. I find it entirely silly the argument that steroid use should keep obvious deserving players out of the HoF but amphetamine use is just ignored. It's just odd.
