We've both come to our conclusions about the subject, which has virtually nothing to do with the D-Troops website. I've said everything I had to on the subject. :)

Oh, another thing Grizz.

You may want to make this website required reading for your troops, because through them, your whole effort could be put to waste. If D-troops gets a reputation by WDW/WDC to be nothing but a bunch of 1985-loving people that can not change with the times, or fanatics that do not understand business, your efforts could be for nothing.

For instance, the issue of Disney-trained artists being replaced by CM's that will be uses a tracing methods as a way to teach people how to draw characters that has been reported.

If you or the troops address the situation with Disney as "this is not what Walt would have done" or something of the like....you have already lost.

The entire situation.....from both the guest side (the average guest that is) and the corporate side needs to be looked at before a good presentation to WDW/WDC can be made.....anything less will be for nothing....and probably ignored.

Arguements that could be made to WDW/WDC for keeping artists in this position could include:

1. The uniqueness of having someone who has worked on an actual film teaching the technique.
2. The marketing possibilities of #1....the competitive advantage that results from doing something nobody else can do.
3. The potential of a better guest experience from keeping an artist in this position.
4. The ability of someone with an artists talent to offer guests different characters to draw, which would lead to not only a potential for a different experience each time (bringing back repeat visitation and more $$ to the park) but also the fact that training a CM to be so versatile could be too expensive.

Speck's got a point. Sometimes, Grizz, you can come off (unintentionally) as "They shouldn't change anything at WDW ever for any reason". I would disagree with you there. For instance, I'm glad WoM and Horizons are gone, becuase TT and M:S are great rides in a lot of different perspectives. We cannot stop WDC from making these kinds of moves because it makes sense. Lots of guests want thrills, so it's only logical to replace them. I know you might think they shouldn't cater to thrill seekers so much or replace great attractions, but did WoM and Horizons attract more people than TT and M:S do? Of course not.

well......THAT was not really my point....but you are close.

I am not so worried about Grizz here......although I enjoy ribbing him about his 80's style, I know that he is smart enough to know the what to do, even if he may not like to do it. I am more concerned FOR Grizz about what some other D-troops may do in the name of the D-Troops......all he needs is one loose cannon to send WDC/WDW something stupid in the name of the D-troops to really screw things up.

Speck, that is AWESOME advice. Vader - I understand I've come off that way (listen to KevinPage! :brick: ), but I think you'll find D-Troops to represent the balance more clearly.

Ooh, I wanna do Pyrotechnics, too! I'll create this amazing show, called IllumiNations: A Worldwide Celebration, featuring lasers, light, fireworks, and fountains. It will have music from Gregory Smith, and it'll... Oh, sorry 'bout that... Got carried away...

Sure, we need pyros for.. uh.. the.. uh.. fireworks?

But yeah. Looks like we're 98% ready for opening. :)

This IS a people effort - so we'll have special orders starting opening day.

Perhaps we'll even have a special preview for WDWmagic. But don't hold me to that. :D

Excellent!

Looks like we're 98.9% done. We owe a GREAT deal of thanks to Gregory, and of course, everyone here on WDWmagic for making it all possible.

Look forward to having you aboard, tigger248. :) Cause this here's the wildest ride in the wilderness! Or the Black Pearl! (You get the point).
