Creepy New Survey Question....

Totally, but your health insurers aren't going to go and get info and use it against you. They can't, would be too expensive. Just chill is what i'm saying. Don't live in fear haha.

Dude I do this sort of crap for a living. Big Data is a scary thing without controls and currently there are none.

it's just a matter of time before your purchases are used against you in denying health care or premium setting Right now it's experimental give it a couple of years and there will be firms selling 'risk scores' to your insurers based on your purchases. Just like those OBD II plugs which Progressive uses to give you a custom rate will be MANDATORY.

I would let them as long as I am compensated. That can be golden information for demographics.

It was not as creepy as I was expecting. Now if they elaborated on what type of information may be on that file, I may find it more creepy. I already receive targeted postal mail for couples with no children.

I don't use those either. If store want my information, they can pay me for it. If data is a commodity, we should be fairly compensated for it, no?
Makes two of us that don't use them...and some would say the discount the loyalty cards give is payment. That discount is not enough fair compensation for me to join....

As Spotted on twitter by an acquaintance.....

For anyone who wasn't thinking that the mouse isn't keeping track of you? What exactly did you think the magicband and the MDX account was doing?
I was commenting on the original point of the thread...why is there a surprise the mouse is keeping track? Not sure where I mislead.....

All i'm saying is, health insurers need and want money, so should everyone worry... Nope. This all sucks, personalised ads etc, seling info is lame but is there REALLY any reason to worry? No. You wouldn't enjoy anything otherwise. You know you can get tracked by other peoples wifi when you have your phone?... So when you walk past peoples houses or whatever it registers that there is a wifi spot and eve if you don't connect your phone company know where you have been...

....Still worried?

Don't be. In the nicest way, we are all insignificant pieces to the wider picture that is the world and unless your on some register, no one gives crap what you're doing, they just want you to buy their sh*t.

Given that Disney currently markets primarily to first time / one-and-done guest, I'd say that the its not known by a majority of guests....

I agree with you, sad thing is most people give up way more information to companies then they every should. As soon as the app and magic bands came out I told my wife, well how long till it comes out Disney is collect information on us. Surprisingly it took longer than I thought it would before it became public.

Okay, if the first time/ one-and-done guest has never been exposed to any loyalty type program? Not likely.

And I doubt it would be a majority anyhow.....

The information was being collected well before NextGen. Seriously, how do people think Disney knew when and where to send surveys?

Well said...I think most of us realized right away what was going to happen.

Taking it a step further; how many people are going to give up information so they can see their name in the interactive part at the end of the Haunted Mansion or It's a Small World (among others).

I assumed it was but the first time i went was right when magic bands where starting to roll out. I think people are more upset on the amount of data being collected. But then again we don't really know what they are collecting either.

That last part, can you really control that? I though it was just off your magic band and you had no control of it.

What is being collected is outlined in the terms of use and privacy policy. Even without the more precision possible due to the MagicBands of course information like frequency of visits is known because it's all right there in one's account and reservations. What is the actual issue here? Because the original image is only shocking if you can't figure out how Disney knew to send the survey in the first place.

They were collecting information before the MagicBands too

Terms of use who reads those. No I am not shocked at all by the way, and I knew they were collecting all the data. I am agreeing with you.
