Could it Be? (EO returning to EPCOT)

It's very interesting to see how the memory of attractions tends to replace the reality of the original time. In some peoples heads, the 'best" attractions are now the ones that are long gone. Yet at the time, the majority wanted EO gone. It was an unpopular addition at Paris, and was applauded when gone. Now we want it back? Do some of you want it back for the sake of haivng something "new", or do you really think it was a quality attraction?

I personally don't think EO should return to Epcot. Epcot needs an all new attarction in that space and EO will just delay that. We've seen it before, wanted it gone, and that's that. If anyone is desperate to see it, get on the plane to DL.

Bring on that "all-new" experience for Epcot!

Some of yall make it sound like EO is going to be there permanently. And it wont. The longest would probably be the summer, and I cant see a problem in it coming back. If it is such a "mistake" as some people seem to think, then I guess building E:E was a mistake because it caused more people to go to Ak and that area of the park, same thing for Soarin because it causes more people to visit the land. Bringing back EO for a while would just cause more people to visit that area of the park that is normally dead. Where is the mistake/problem in that? It can be the first step in getting an all new 3d show and an all new imagination ride.

A new attraction there would be the best option, but I don't think anyone expects HISTA to be replaced any time soon. Bringing back EO, would at least bring them in money and get a lot more traffic in that area short term.

I get people not wanting EO back. I honestly do get that and if I REALLY thought a new attraction was close to coming in that space, my opinion would be to bring that on. But it seems money is being spent into the MK right now (which is a park that needs it worse than any other IMO). I would LOVE to see a new Imagination attraction, an update to the Universe of Energy, finishing SSE's finale, and a personal wish of mine would be to finally replace Reflections of Earth, but it doesn't seem the money is there right now.

I guess people think it will last longer than a couple of months if it comes. Now if EO were to be back for a couple of years, then it wouldn't be the best decision. I wish they would put it in for the rest of the year, starting in Summer, which would get the resort some great publicity, allow visitors this year to take a stroll down memory lane and then move on with a new show/attraction expansion.

Yes, it has. I really hope they're shooting for something ambitious and even better than the original.

I agree, but heck I'll take something just as ambitious as the first. We haven't seen anything like that in a long time.

Personally I just want something different in the Magic Eye. 16 years is way too long for a movie dedicated to a franchise that was dead when the movie debuted.

Exactly. The only reason I personally wanted it back at all was to have something different than what's been there. But absolutely not at the expense of something new. I'll be more than happy to fly out to Disneyland, I'm long overdue for another trip, anyways.

Well said. EO wasn't that great of a show before, and time hasn't improved it any.

Thankfully, at least according to Mouse Planet, it first look like EO will be making a return appearance at EPCOT....

I agree Steve.

Now, I've never actually SEEN the 3D show at WDW. (At least not that I know of, I could have seen it as a kid and not remembered.) However, that being said, I've seen it online, and I think that is a relatively good representation of the show, minus the fact that I didn't get to see it in 3D. I mean it is a show, so seeing it online, in this case works, unlike seeng a ride-through online.

Personally, I really do dislike the idea of bringing it back. After watching it, I thought it was so cheesy and dated and didn't belong in the parks now. Yes, I get the nostalga factor, but I wonder how many people have actually SEEN the movie recently, who still want it back. In this case, I think nostalga is totally clouding the vision for those who want to see the attraction again. It's simply not right for 2010. Maybe it was cool when it was first released, but it's definitely not cool now...and if MJ hadn't have passed away, we wouldn't be talking about bringing it back and Disney certainly (or at least I would assume) wouldn't be even thinking about bringing it back.

Do I think HISTA is a good fit for the pavilion? No. It needs to go as well. TDO needs to create a brand new attraction for this area though. Not bring back some "classic" attraction and not leave the same, dated attraction there either. The pavilion REALLY needs something new altogether for that theater...and I really wish they would spend the money to actually do it. (Remember Disney, sometimes you have to spend money to make it...not hord it away like some grandma who won't spend money because she's afraid to do so. Trust me, my grandma in law does that...it's not pretty.)

The thing is for the longest time now everyone has said Imagination would be redone-nothing yet, everyone said spaceship earth would be fixed/finished and that ended up being canceled and abandoned. So whats to say Kodak/Disney are going to do anything with Imagination in the near future? Just sayin, okay I know thats two different things/places and I cant wait for imagination to get redone the sooner the better, its just I wont believe it till they announce something concrete. Hopefully by EO not coming they are focusing on something else. But the SE fiasco ruined alot of my expectation/hope in epcot attractions.

For those people here saying that Captain Eo would hinder a redo of Imagination. This is a complete falsehood. A redo of the Imagination pavillion is in development at WDI and will, from what I understand, be the next "new" attraction announced for WDW. I have no clue what the timetable is though.

HISTA's days are numbered regardless the question WDW management has to decide now is to keep it open alittle longer, close it and dont do anything with the building for awhile, or bring back Captain EO in the interim. Naturally, there is a very good chance EO will return if the crowds and merch sales in California are any indication.

Again, this would not affect the Imagination redo.

Lee says otherwise, are your sources better than his? Not challenging you, just curious.
