Could Aladdin the musical be heading for WDW?

There have been rumors for a while now that Aladdin the musical that plays in the Hyperion theater in DCA will be closing in 2010 and replaced by a Toy Story show.

If it closes could we see this show come to WDW?

Three likely places that it could go:
1.Replace Beauty and the Beast show in DHS.
2. Replace La NOba in DTD.
3. Hunchback Theater in DHS.

The actors are contracted through 2010 do we have a chance to get this show in WDW?

I hope we do, it's my favorite show out in DLR. I think if it was to replace anything, it would be Beauty & the Beast in DHS, especially if BatB is going to be represented in the "new" Fantasyland.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
While I'd rather see the return of Hunchback :D, this would be a fun addition. Not to bash, but DHS is getting stale, especially BatB.
However, I'm just not sure it'd happen. DLP and WDW aren't as associated with one another as most people think, and I don't know if they'd bring in an old musical. Everything seems to be based off the new stuff lately.

Aladdin the Musical is currently playing at the Hyperion theater at Disney's California Adventure at Disneyland Resort...

It would be a cool idea, though the theaters at WDW couldn't easily do the magic carpet ride so that would be a disappointment... but of course the Genie jokes rarely get old.Who knows, I just don't want to see Toy Story the Musical go to DCA (I hear people don't really like it all that music on the Disney wonder cruise ship, where it only began performing last year...)

Why would DLP have anything to do with it?

I don't know if that is going to happen but it would be great if it did. The Alladin show is one great piece of work! I get to FL more often than I get to CA so would like to see it at WDW so I can see it more often.

WDW does not have any theatres tall enough for Aladdin (have you been in the Hyperion? It has two balconies and is every bit as big as a Broadway theatre--WDW doesn't have any theatres this size), so I highly doubt it.

Don't think Beauty and the Beast will be leaving DHS anytime soon, the show is very popular and fills to capicity most days during peak season, and I doubt its going to MK, as i have heard rumor that its there to stay. Its also rumored that the theatre and show may be seeing a rehab soon. (Which is needed, i don't recall the theater of the stars having a rehab in the recent past, and the theater lacks adequate breakroom facilities, especially for the attractions cast members, who currently only have a decking area as a break area.)

As much as I like the BatB show...its been there a looong time, and the last time I saw it, Four for a Dollar was the best part of the show. We need to change it up. I have never seen the Alladin show, but I've heard its great. Love to have it come to DHS.

Don't look for Aladdin to replace La Nouba. aladdin was designed to be a theme park show. Cirue du Soleil is in a totally different ballpark in terms of complexity and staging. UnlessAladdin gets a full Broadway-quality treatment, it would end up in a theme park, not DTD.

Exactly! Aladdin would have to be seriously changed to fit on a WDW stage. The DCA show uses a fly rail, lifts, automated sets etc. The only theater it could possibly fit in would be Theater in the Wild at AK and that's not going to happen.

Wow...I'd love this to happen if it's true!
I'd hope it would fill the space Hunchback and not replace the Beauty and the Beast show!
Took the words out of my mouth!

I have never seen the show in person but have watched it on Youtube and i REALLLLY want to see it!!! that would be awesome. but i don't want to lose Beauty and the Beast!

Well, Aladdin does have a bird, a monkey and a tiger, so I guess it fits AK. :ROFLOL:

Well, just like Theater in the Wild was reconfigured to become an enclosed theater, why couldn't Disney do the same thing with the theater where Mermaid is show in DHS, or Beauty and the Beast as well?

The theatre Mermaid has is way to small from what I have seen of Aladdin. BatB is also small stage wise. Replacing BatB or the old Hunchback theatre is possible, but would require a lot of rerigging/reconstruction of the stage.

Regarding La Nouba, two totally different beasts. The quality of Aladdin is heads above normal theme park shows, but still well below being able to charge 88 bucks a head for it. And didn't Disney just sign a contract extension with Cirque?
