Some Sun/Vitamin D helps a great deal with Covid and immunity in general, which is why I think this is bad advice, go, or at least go outdoors more often.

I go outdoors every day, multiple times a day since this pandemic started. I haven’t been to WDW once. People definitely should go outdoors and do something physical for mental and physical health, but you don’t need to get on a plane and fly somewhere for a week to do that.

Yes it is. We were so lucky to get as many trips with her as we did. She had been in a LTC facility for almost 4 years and even survived a covid outbreak in the spring. We last took her 5 years ago and gave her a trip of a lifetime (spoiled her with a few days in a bungalow). But her cerebral palsy combined with ALS was too much. Sadly due to us having colds in the late winter, I hadn't seen her in person for about a year... kind of why I considered unblinding myself so she could have another come in to care for her.

I remember you talking about her on MO and it seemed like maybe y'all were close. I'm sure that was very hard not being able to be with her or at her funeral. My condolences.

A good friend of mine and I were talking this morning. He just told me his 96 year old father has been tested and positive for Covid. Now I know he lives in his own place and I know he hasn’t gone out in 9 months and also know that my friend and his 2 sisters have been bringing him food and supplies to his front door since this all started. I said how the heck did he catch it? His assistant nurse who visits each day for 4-6 hrs had it. She even said she went to a baby shower with about 20 people. Even when you do everything you are supposed to do, it can get you because of someone’s irresponsibility.
his in the hospital and believe it or not, not doing to bad. Hard to breathe but in good spirits. Been 5 days now so hoping for the best.

I still believe theme parks being open -and- holding guests accountable on COVID protocols (read: Disney, Cedar Fair, Universal on weekdays. Not SeaWorld/Busch, Fun Spot, Universal on weekends, Dollywood, some Six Flags parks) is actually doing a good service right now. It is providing safe, outdoor, distanced recreation for folks that are going to go out no matter what. Let's say a group of 5 or 6 friends or family members from different households are going to get together for a day out no matter what the guidelines/recommendations are. Theme parks give them an option to get together outdoors, with masks required, and distancing protocols with the general public. That same group likely would have gotten together in a home, bar, or somewhere else without masking. But the park provides a safe option. And of course the employees are able to work and the park is able to make it economically.

People aren't going to stay home. That's been proven for 9 months. Parks are also one of the safest forms of recreation with good mitigation protocols. I say keep the parks open and close the bars.

Parks are far from safe. There is little to no social distancing and plenty of people are not wearing masks correctly and are getting away with it.

There are some positive outcomes even for very old patients. This woman was 108 and had survived both the 1918 Spanish Flu and now Covid.

On the case numbers, I think we have about a month to go before this wave breaks. There’s talk of a bump on top of a bump from the holidays and NYE and I think it will take several weeks to ramp up and then several more to ramp down from that. Hopefully by the end of January we see cases dropping naturally, plus if the pace of vaccinations stays steady as planned we may have about 15% of the population vaccinated by then. Then by the end of February/middle of March we could/should be at about 1/3 of the population vaccinated. Assuming people accept the vaccine and also continue to follow protocols (masks and distancing) we could start to see a true drop off in cases and the real beginning of the end of the pandemic. We are so close.

Travel is not justified and there are no “good mitigation” if it applies to something unnecessary.

...and to be fair to Disney it’s not the parks that are the problem it’s the travel.

If we take Disney World out of the equation and replace it with the beach or a National park it’s the same issue. People travel to Florida to go to the beach or to Wyoming to go to Yellowstone. The beach itself is not an unsafe place but if someone gets on a plane and flies to FL to go to the beach and stays in a hotel room for multiple nights and eats out for every meal that becomes more of an issue for Covid spread. I don’t think we should close all the beaches in FL because some people choose to fly to FL to visit them. It’s up to people to make the right decision and not travel and spend extensive time doing things that are higher risk. The beach itself isn’t the Covid safety issue it’s the fact that the person is eating all their meals out in restaurants with no mask on and generally spending way more time than normal in public with contact with people during a spike in cases. Now in the beach example it’s possible to rent a condo and bring your own food or get takeout, but outside of DVC villas that’s not as practical at WDW.

Vertigo occurs when your brain’s proprioception (mainly your semicircular canals in your ear but also proprioceptive nerves all over your body) sensors either disagree with each other and/or your visual input. Your brain can’t make sense of this disconnect (the room starts spinning) and it reads this as you being poisoned (causing a protein spill.). As we age the fluid in our semicircular canals thicken and cause sensations to be delayed and dampened such that our eyes are delivering information faster and different then your ear is which is why kids almost never get Vertigo and it gets more common the older you get.

please note that only 0.02 percentage of those under 25 died from having covid. So for their age bracket, they have 99.8 percent chance of surviving. I can break it down further if you would like.

the 1 in 1000 does not take into account by age group, risk factor and so on. My original statement stands true: for many age brackets, your odds of surviving if catching covid are drastically high, around 99 percent and I will provide the CDCs own statistics to back this up. This is based on percentage of deaths vs cumulative cases in said age bracket (US only). If I were to actually do the percentages of deaths and cases versus population total in the us, my case would be strengthened (as there are millions more people in each bracket then actual case numbers in the bracket).

Thank you. I will admit to one thing I am relieved about, she is free of her body. She was super upbeat and lived her life beyond what anyone thought of her. They told my grandparents that she'd only live a day or two, then would never talk or walk, or... well fill in the blank. She surpassed life expectancies more than once. She smiled and had joy and loved Disney. She was buried with mouse ears and a Mickey & Minnie throw. So we honored her. She was given a year or two to live past her ALS diagnosis on top of cerebral palsy. She lived almost 4. I'll miss seeing her, but she also was struggling. I had wished we had more time and more trips but once confined to her chair we knew we couldn't. When people say rest in peace, for her it was a blessing.

It does anger me that people are such stick in the muds about rights and downplaying. Other countries have better control because people are selfless and not jerks about it. Here we have people thumbing their noses for hidden agendas. If we had been better maybe we could have had one last goodbye in person. But my last visit was via Google Duo because people are selfish.

We have jerks like Kirk Cameron staging protests in CA under the name of Christianity. Total BS

We'll do a full funeral when we can. I hope for her birthday this summer. She would've been 70. So for goodness sake people shut up about "freedoms" stay home and wear your mask so those suffering can have an end to it. It's not that hard!
