AIDS isn’t spread via sneeze or cough droplets, nor can you catch it from a door handle touched by an infected person yesterday. Big difference in transmission.
The transmission is very different (although at the beginning they didn't know how it was transmitted) but the extreme example I used was to illustrate infringement on civil liberties.

Whether or not you agree that these measures should be taken right now, it doesn't change the fact that many, if not all, of them violate the Constitution in one way or another.

They are all based on the concept that I, who has not been infected, COULD be infected and MIGHT infect someone else who MAY need to be hospitalized or need a ventilator.

This is such a nonsensical comparison. You can’t catch HIV through social contact, touching surfaces, being coughed on, etc. You need to have unprotected sex or exposure to someone’s blood. Moreover, gay men did indeed take proactive steps in response to the HIV/AIDS crisis—by adopting safe-sex practices.

ETA: I see @JenniferS beat me to it.
AIDS was spread by sexual contact (or blood transfusions) which led to the closing of bathhouses, and huge campaigns about safe sex.Not compatible at all.
See my reply to Jennifers. I used an example to illustrate infringement on civil liberties. The method of transmission (which they didn't really know when AIDS first appeared) is irrelevant to the whether or not the measures are constitutional.

That’s a false dilemma.

I’m not saying preserving life isn’t important. I’m saying that to reach a defined outcome successfully there has to be a very defined goal or set of goals. “Our goal is to decrease the number of deaths by X amount by X date by doing X and X.” That’s an outcome defined with goals.
Perhaps our elected officials may catch on? Shelter in place, lockdowns, essential traffic only are some of the ways to try to flatten the curve because the hospital officials are going to run out of PPE in an estimated 2-3 weeks and are desperately trying to plead their case. The CDC recommends doctors who may be exposed to covid19 to keep working and medical professionals use homemade masks as a last resort. And that's not media make believe.

Agreed. Being ordered to close your business is VERY questionable legally.
Happens all the time in a state of emergency. Half of CA burned last year and if they told people to evacuate an area they had no choice. You couldn’t keep your bar open. Same with barrier islands in a hurricane. At times of civil unrest there have been curfews and mandatory closures until crowds were dispersed. The only difference between this and those situations is timing. This will last longer. We are going to have a long and difficult recovery from this situation. The courts shouldn’t and won’t be bogged down with frivolous lawsuits.

Yup - and that's the problem - with no specific stated goal of what we are accomplishing besides meaningless platitudes like "flattening the curve", we will for the first time in history voluntarily destroy our economy and then be left with debating what we accomplished.
I think the issue is for the people making the calls “flattening the curve” is the goal it’s not a platitude. You have decided that it’s fake or false or whatever and that’s a valid opinion, but the people in charge need to take all of the available information and the opinions and projections of every expert or personal knowledgable about the situation and make a call. Doing nothing because of a lack of guaranteed information is making a call Itself. Leaders don’t have the luxury of sitting back and waiting they will be judged on the actions or lack of actions taken.

My question is once this is all said and done, the parks reopen and things are back to "normal". How much are ticket prices going to go up to help make up for the loss? Will this weed down the crowds like all the ticket hikes hoped?

Short term they won’t raise prices. There will be tons of discounts as they try to draw people back into the parks. It will certainly weed out crowds after re-opening but there likely will be no night shows or parades, certain rides or attractions shuttered and restaurants with tables spread 6 feet so an extreme lack of dining options.
