Once we hit a little above the 3 million mark, which feels only weeks away at this point, roughly 15% of all Floridians will have contracted covid. Insane.
I expect that we will reach 3 Million in the next 7 days to 9 days.

To break that down to be a bit ore in-depth:
0 to 2,508,458 Cases = 510 Days (March 2nd, 2020 to July 25th, 2021)

2,508,458 Cases to 2,806,813 cases = 16 Days (July 25th, 2021 to August 10th, 2021)

Another way to do it:
July 24th, 2021 to July 30th added 110,421 cases in just 7 days
July 31st, 2021 to August 5th, 2021 added 110,733 cases in just 6 days
August 6th 2021, to August 10th, 2021 added 105,104 cases in just 5 days.

If it keeps the current trend of exponential growth that we are currently seeing, we can easily see another 100,000 in 4 and then in 3 days respectively.

This is all under a discrepancy of 5.25%. The CDCs Numbers differentiate from the Florida Department of Health weekly reports totals from May 28th, 2021 to August 5th, 2021 with the CDC underreporting 22,386 cases.

Albeit small , but randomized trial shows that a third moderna shot in transplant recipients provides adequate neutralizing antibodies ( two shots do not provide enough neutralizing antibodies) .

Study:

Separate letter:
Interestingly someone I know just had third shot. First shot produced zero antibodies. 2nd did but they went for third. (Part of a study)

Agreed, and this recent wave is almost exclusively in the unvaccinated population so the denominator is much smaller than the whole population. If we consider that 60% of adults in FL are vaccinated that leaves roughly 7M unvaccinated adults. If 80% of new cases are in unvaccinated adults (some were in children and some are breakthrough, but most are unvaccinated adults) and we had nearly 150,000 cases in the last 7 days that means nearly 2% of the unvaccinated population was infected just this past week alone. At that pace roughly 1% every 3-4 days 😳.

The bad news for the virus (and the unvaccinated:() is that at this pace nearly 10% of the unvaccinated would be infected in a month on top of however many were already infected :( Could mean 75-80% immune but way too many did it the hard way.

As ridiculous and sad this is, your 13 year-old will be prepared for the idiocy of the world and will more than likely rise above the others due to these experiences and your parenting.
It would just be nice if it wasn't done this way.
There is enough difficulty in a regular life, whatever that is, with unavoidable emotional trauma due to stuff that just happens. It doesn't need to be added to by idiots living in a bubble of fiction and misinformation, who somehow have a need to involve others in a bait and switch tactic or trap
Thanks. We never try to be soft and pull punches. But this has been a horrible reality check. I will say I am proud with how mature he's been, but dang it sucks.

I agree wholeheartedly. This became a political sticking point in America in a way that many (not all) other countries mostly avoided. Not to say those grassroots didn't try, but it didn't stick as readily. This is not to say it is strictly politically divided, but that is the core root of how it was able to gain steam.

Historically crisis have been used to bring Americans together and it is only recently that the motivation became to divide. There has been success in picking a side instead of appealing to the middle, unlike we have ever seen before.
Yup. Pretty ridiculous as well as embarrassing.

And then it's WAY WAY too long to get back to normal by end of the year or early 2022...:(

At this point Florida should shut down for 30 days. Close all the theme parks, close the beaches, restrict highway and air traffic into and out of the state. Do a New Zealand style lockdown and pay Floridians to do it. Nobody goes outside of their homes, save for emergency personnel and very essential goods.

How about just mandating the vaccine? How about we just do that?

Can we please stop with the Florida needs to lock down nonsense?! LOCK DOWNS DO NOT WORK. Even closing businesses for 30 days would be devastating for a vast
majority of small businesses.

Circumstances are a lot different than they were in the spring of 2020. We have a weapon against the virus. The vaccines are working! Florida will get through this wave just like they have in the past.
