What are the chances that WDW stays closed until the new year? I have a trip already booked, ticket purchased, air fare purchased, hotel with deposit for December. Praying everything is calmed and under control by then...
I think you will be fine. Then again I never imagined I would be in my home indefinitely with only essential stores open counting my rolls of TP so anything is possible ;)

if WDW isn’t open by New Years we all have bigger problems than WDW not being open :(

Yeah, except that within two weeks of knowing H1N1 had touched down in the US, CDC had thousands of tests on the ground and ready to go. By the same point in that outbreak, we had hundreds of thousands SHIPPED. It doesn’t mean you have control over the pathogen, but you’re not failing on the most basic level of seeing who has this. Right now, we have the worst testing rate in the Western world by any metric, per capita, absolute numbers, anything. This isn’t our first rodeo. We’re supposed to be the leading center of disease response on the planet.
I'm not saying the CDC hasn't dropped the ball big time -- they have. I'm saying the scope of the US response is a lot bigger than what Korea is dealing with.

I'm still going with my earliest response -- assume that everyone you see has the virus and deal with it accordingly. If they do, it should run its course in 3 weeks. If they don't, so much the better.

The problem, of course, is those who just won't modify their behavior to ameliorate the risk of spreading the disease. In earlier times, society would have dealt harshly with them. Today, we just throw up our hands and say, "What ya gonna do?"

It will be the opposite. Managers will likely go first because they are salary. Hourly probably won’t get cut first because these are usually labor employees with specific skills (at least some). A manager can’t create magic with Mickey and a manager can’t cook up a meal
That's all pure speculation at this point. Disney will be making an important decision in regards to the WDW 80K plus cast members employment April 1 moving forward.

They can't afford to fire all of them because the best ones with the most experience are the ones that will be more likely to find a job somewhere else making it more difficult to fill those more critical jobs. I would expect all your wait staff to be canned, but in the kitchen I would expect them to try and hang on to some workers that are more skilled and would be harder to replace later.

uhhh... orlando. Remember this is the same people and srea Disney has been able to pay people crap wages for decades and they stay with disney. Plus where are they going go go when the economy is shutdown?

Just an opinion. The guy above said everyone would be fired besides managers. If they want to reopen the park in 8 or so weeks only managers won’t cut it

Oh, absolutely. My point was just that even if we can't match that kind of efficiency because of our specific needs/geography/etc, we're not living up to our own standards and no one can seemingly give us a straight answer why (outside of what we've learned about the failure of the initial CDC test).

I don't understand why people say the cause of death is pneumonia and not related to covid-19. That's the number one factor with this virus is it not? It's severe respiratory issues, among others, but it seems that the respiratory issues are what cause people to die. I'm obviously missing a key element so someone please feel free to fill me in.

Correlation is not causation. A relative just died (3 days ago) of a rapid onset cancer - the definitive diagnosis was finally made the day before he died; they did not test him for Covid-19, but had they done so, he might very well have tested positive. But that is not what killed him.

So it may be that testing showed that this patient had the more common type of seasonal flu related pneumonia rather than the atypical type associated with Covid-19. I suspect that many people who have died recently also are positive for Covid-19 - even if killed in a car accident.

Cases are spiking due to much more testing. The cases were there, they are discovering the scope of them.

Best advice is minimize your exposure and wash your hands.👏

I believe in using antiseptic mouthwash daily to avoid flu and colds but I'm not a doctor. Just seems to help.

Use only as directed.

The "it's none of my business" thing has been an increasing problem for decades. I'm hopeful that this causes a reversal.

That is exactly what I am doing. Until my area goes into lock down because of those who do not view it the same way, I am still going for walks but will not get closer than 6 feet to anyone, and will not touch anything.

I've cancelled non-essential things, especially if they involve close contact, such as getting my nails done. I don't routinely go to get my hair done anymore - wear it braided which I do myself.

The malls and retail stores have closed, and the local grocery has special seniors hours.
