While it isn't realistic right now based on the scarcity and time required to test someone in the US, When newer test pop up it that are quicker and much more accessible it could become viable. It could also allow Disney to do what they have always wanted to do and only allow entry to the parks by people that stay at their resorts. Just imagine you check in to your Disney hotel, everyone is swabbed at the front desk and after a couple of hours if your family's test results are clean your magic band get activated and you can get into the parks. Sure it would never generate the same crowd levels they have now, but amusement parks are going to have to do something dramatic if this virus turns into a part of life with no cure or vaccine. Otherwise who in their right mind would want to go to WDW if you knew the parks were the equivalent of being stuck on cruise ship with infected guests... and what employees would be willing to work in a place like that where you would know that every day you were going to be subjected to some number of infected guests.
Testing at resorts (or WDW) will never happen because you're forgetting one crucial element - those tests need to go to a lab to be processed.

UV-C range rays can kill up to 90% of coronaviruses. Unfortunately, UV-C rays, the shortest in wavelengths, never reach us because they are absorbed by the atmosphere. Good thing, too, because they are even more dangerous than UV-B (5% of all UV rays and what cause sunburns) and UV-A rays (95% of UV rays).

So NO! Don't listen to this old wives tale that is just as false as some of the Chinese animal part cures mentioned earlier.
Thank you for that information. The number of people in my town thinking summer will kill off the virus because it will be sunny is frightening.

I don't understand why people say the cause of death is pneumonia and not related to covid-19. That's the number one factor with this virus is it not? It's severe respiratory issues, among others, but it seems that the respiratory issues are what cause people to die. I'm obviously missing a key element so someone please feel free to fill me in.

Do you think Disney will ultimately fire all of their cast members? I can’t see how much longer Disney will put up with having to pay for their shifts. Anyone who isn’t in management will be cut. Are they going to keep the thousands of food and beverage employees?
It will be the opposite. Managers will likely go first because they are salary. Hourly probably won’t get cut first because these are usually labor employees with specific skills (at least some). A manager can’t create magic with Mickey and a manager can’t cook up a meal

My wife has Jury Duty on the 30th. Will proclaiming self-isolation get her out of that? Doubt it.
Our court let me reschedule because my son (infant at the time) puked all over me while I was on my way out the door...

The pneumonia associated with COVID-19 seems particularly brutal...there's definitely some key information missing from that article, and I'd be curious to know what it is.

I am able to send my forms by mail to my tax preparer, but many people do not have that option, so wouldn't they still need to visit their preparer to have their taxes done in order to know how much to send to the IRS (if they owe anything)?

I've had the same company doing my taxes for years, so was able to do everything by mail/online and have already made my payment.
They moved the payment due date to July 15th. Eventually you would need to meet with your tax guy but not during lock down times.

I hate to make crass generalizations but like anyone who starts a sentence with "I hate to" I really do want to say this. There are many ethnic neighborhoods in our city and I happen to live in a predominantly Greek area. The older generations congregate outside in large groups throughout the year. They sit and smoke and do what people do. Talk, laugh, reminisce. Well, they are still doing it. You wouldn't think anything has happened. And I imagine other areas of the city are doing it, too. They are either ill-informed or stubborn New Yorkers who have survived everything this city has thrown at them. But then, their children and grandchildren join them. Suddenly, it's a party outside the bodegas. I can't help but think this kind of cultural behavior is happening all over the city. New Yorkers survived 9/11 -- this is what, a little cough? Hasidic neighorhoods are doing the same. Italian neighborhoods. Neighborhoods uptown in Inwood and Washington Heights. This is why I have absolutely zero hope right now that anything will change without actual police enforcement.

Here’s a decent summary of the various proposals out there for direct stimulus. Each proposal sends checks to people as opposed to a payroll tax credit or some other tax credit. Seems like a decent idea. Get the money to people who need it right away.

Parents-

Our K-8 school has a dedicated FB page for At Home Learning during this time.

Today is Spirit Wear day.. all teachers and students are uploading photos and videos wearing their spirit wear.
In addition to that, there’s so many videos from teachers and principal which are just used to give a quick pep talk to the kids, or our PE teacher giving her video assignment for the day, doing it herself in her own video.

It is a bright spot for the kids during this time. If your school isn’t doing this (I know many already are), do try to get one started!

What are the chances that WDW stays closed until the new year? I have a trip already booked, ticket purchased, air fare purchased, hotel with deposit for December. Praying everything is calmed and under control by then...

Im wondering if streaming services will all be asked to halt streaming for a while.
I know Netflix was asked to stop HD streaming in some places...
I guess all of us curmudgeon hold outs that didn't "cut the cord" could have an "I told you so" moment! Take that, millennials! :)
