I thought mask wearing was to protect others from you in case you had the virus and didn’t know it because you were asymptomatic or presymptomatic.
One assumes you understand the differences between the mandates and rules and why they exist and how they work besides the individual goals. Along with how the guidelines will be over inclusive instead of underperforming.

Perhaps not, and you want every random encounter to wonder if the other person is vaccinated or just a denier.

At this point, if I see you inside a public place without a mask, I assume you're an anti-masker whacko who has zero intention of getting vaccinated and I will steer clear of you.
It is a weird dichotomy, isn’t it? I’m right there with you, excepting some of the elderly who probably are vaccinated and fed up with it all. If you’re <60 and tooling around inside without a mask, my immediate judgment is that you’re also not vaccinated and are probably among those who also couldn’t be bothered to center up their vehicle in a parking spot.

I agree, the vaccines are not 100% effective.

However, several scientific studies have now stated that' the rate of transmission in non-crowded outdoor settings is practically nil.

We're talking about a bunch of government officials getting together, where the overwhelming majority (if not all) are fully vaccinated.

As the article I posted suggests, it's time for leadership to show hope, to show what life is like in a post-vaccine country.

If they continue to wear masks where the science says masks are not needed, a lot of people are going to say, "why bother to get vaccinated?"

Exactly who is following the science and who is virtue signaling?

Exactly.
If a person isn't vaccinated, and has an issue getting near the President because of that - then they can keep their distance or don a mask when they approach him.
It's ridiculous for the President to keep a mask on "just in case."

Over the last month I’ve see more and more people without masks but I take that as a sign they’ve already got the vaccine, not that they are anti-vaccine. I’m much less cautious now then I was a couple months ago (before my vaccine) and have been to more indoor restaurants in the last month than I had in the previous 14. If I’m outdoors (park, driving range, sidewalk) I rarely wear a mask anymore unless it’s a crowded area. That doesn’t make me anti-vax, it just shows the vaccine is working and people are returning to some sense of normal.

We are both fully vaccinated and have started traveling again, following all precautions. Masked, socially distant, wipe down surfaces, etc. It has been wonderful to return to that bit of normalcy.
We just got back from Hawaii and it was absolutely amazing. The best part of the vaccine is the ability to enjoy the world again without the overlying sense of dread. There’s still risk but we now feel it’s an acceptable level and we are back to enjoying life fully.

I feel the same way. I don’t see people wearing masks outside anymore since the CDC’s latest numbers (as opposed to recommendations) came out. But I’m at the airport now and mask compliance here is near perfect. Absolutely no social distancing, though.

I hope you’re right, especially if Vegas travel is picking up. My county isn’t exactly a tourist destination, and we’re well below 50% of the population vaccinated 1 dose. It’s hard to give benefit of the doubt when indoor masking has dropped to probably 40% at best.

I specifically said inside/indoors.

We just returned from a trip, too, but not Hawaii. (Post-vacation let down is REAL!!) Our Hawaii trip is early next year.

Well, it's always been around. It's just that today, everyone has an instant platform with the added benefit of getting paid for it AND instant fame. Remember when people used to blame it on the 24-hour news cycle? Who knew it could be even worse. That's why I like discussion boards. They're self-contained. Whereas anything sent out into the universe via social media has the potential of being #everywhere. Legit news is dead.
Admittedly I never watch the news. Though my kid is doing some citizenship work and had to watch some local, state, and national news conferences. Was suggested to watch the electoral college vote/certification. That one ended well. I try to get as neutral info as possible. I've been labeled incorrectly both ways in terms of political affiliation more than once. I know we're cool now, but we've even butted heads where sometimes we say things that get us labeled as "one of those" for whatever the subject may be.

The news has their own agenda for sure. Very crazy to me that it happened.

A lot of people who criticize the media (myself included) don't realize they feed the media with every like they click. I'm not including you as you've made the decision to disconnect. Maybe the media wouldn't be so troublesome to us if most of us stayed in our own lanes.

7 deaths declared today, for yesterday, in the U.K.!
Vaccines and cautious relaxation of “lockdown rules” seems to be working so far. 😁😷🥳 Please let this trend continue and for my friends in the USA use this to encourage everyone to get vaccinated and hang on to the mask for just a few more weeks.
Experiments this weekend with 5,000 people unmasked at a rave! All had to provide negative test and will be tracked to see if there is a spike as a result. Think this is a brilliant idea to check for transmission.

Another reason we need that in the U.S.
