True but let's be honest, a large chunk of the US population has done little research into the people, discussions, papers, books, articles etc. published/written by the very people who put it all together. The "I can do what I want cause freedom" is a more modern take and not altogether accurate to the original vision.

Not saying you are doing this at all but just in general it's something that has really come to the forefront during the last year. Maybe I'm way off and it is just a vocal minority but it really seems like that group just gets larger as time goes. The loss of nuance just makes me kind of sad.
I wonder how many of the "mah freedom" crowd have read what some of the Founders thought about the necessity of civic virtue as the foundation that makes freedoms possible. In short... its similar to what our parents would tell us about how we're expected to show greater responsibility with more expanded rights.

I wonder why Moderna and Pfizer does not want to join the study with J&J and Astrazeneca on maybe blood clots from there vaccine? I would think it would help people who now may have the jitters from these vaccines getting a vaccine. Never thought about it but since these vaccines are not FDA approved we all are like case studies. No one knows for sure what is going to happen.

I probably won't run these numbers again until sometime next week but here is the breakdown of percentage of each age group that has at least one shot as well as the increase from the prior report.

Age% VaccinatedIncrease 4/15-4/16
16-24
13.7%
18205
25-34
19.6%
20918
35-44
28.8%
21527
45-54
37.3%
23465
55-64
54.2%
25401
65-74
82.8%
9028
75-84
82.6%
4046
85+
69.1%
1394
Total
36.3%
123984

For 65+, 80.9% have had at least one shot so far. The percentage is really a little higher for 16-24 because my population number is 15-24.

How much "movement" has there been in those top two age brackets recently?

It does frighten we a little when we hear numbers like less than 10,000 cases a day in the US or less than 100 deaths a day thrown around as targets for when we can see a return to normal and FL alone is almost hitting those numbers with only 6.5% of the population :(
Less than 20,000 cases a day was cause for celebration as I recall.

It's why I don't get why everyone keeps focusing on a summer date that probably isn't coming. Masks and social distancing is going to be around longer then people want or think. It's why many say vaccine passports are the way ahead. Doesn't have to be a government mandate but I hope many businesses go for it.

Because May 2020, June 2020, July 2020, August 2020, etc. were dates that also worked for them. I only harp on this as a means of explaining how history continues to repeat itself.

Oh, thanks - I wasn't aware.
The AZ and J&J are viral vector tech like a flu shot but the Pfizer and Moderna are mRNA tech so they induce immunity in different manners. It is not uncommon for viral vector vaccines to have blood clotting but these clots are a different type than what has been seen in the past hence the warnings to health care not to hit this with heparin as normal.

The Summer dates are based on the vaccine rollout. If the vaccines work as advertised (Which they definitely do) there is a lot of hope that the cases come down once we hit enough people vaccinated. FL is still at only 36% of the total population vaccinated so I wouldn’t expect cases to plummet yet, but they have plateaued at a pretty high level which isn’t great. Vaccine passports are only a plan B if the vaccine rollout fails.

Freedom does not, and should not, mean freedom from responsibility.

I would still like to know. Would not hurt. They would have nothing to loose if they did.
How many shots have gone into arms of the mRNA type and how many adverse incidents (clotting)? I have only heard of the allergic reactions, is there anything to study here? Hundreds of millions of doses given,
