Don't ya think there will be next surge or not in next couple months?
I'm of the personal opinion, after hearing experts speak on the subject and seeing vaccines pick up speed locally, that we'll see another spike come Spring/Summer as the variant types gain dominance. Seeing that the vaccines we're using here in the US have at least good activity against those variants, I'm hoping that the severity from a hospitalization and death standpoint is at least blunted depending on how many are protected by the time they take hold. Knowing that the UK variant has been confirmed in MN and CO, and with how many travelers and family members come and go to my area, I'm sure it's here, as well. Then there's the similar CA variant, and with large numbers of people relocating from that state to areas just a few counties over, we're bound to get hit sooner rather than later. The good news is that this break in the previous wave has bought us time and hospital space as a nation to get ahead of another peak.

It's a race against time, but we're vaccinating quite a few people daily now, and protecting (largely) the most vulnerable among us. We'll see a few bad weeks/months ahead, but hopefully it ends up being the virus' final fatal push before being pushed to endemic status here in the US. Even Canada now that they've started receiving mass shipments from Pfizer/BioNTech again.

Anyone here know which vlogger this is? I watch a lot of vloggers but can't figure out who this is.

I would like to know who this is too??

I think one “duo” was doing the park vloggs consistently from nov-January and now seem “off” and doing more of the home stuff again...it could be that one.

My kids watch though...I don’t pay too close of attention.

Your argument " outdoors, well ventilated " would not fly in Disney theme parks regarding a reason mask wearing. Daytona NASCAR just did a poor job enforcing but then again look at the general customer base of the sport.
That's because Disney made a policy that the wish to enforce. Nothing to do with an argument. Disney's policy makes sense from a logistical standpoint because it would be a nightmare to have to try and get people to put them on every time they entered a queue. Much easier to just have a blanket policy "on property" with limited exceptions.
Yeah... no worse than a crowded soccer stadium right? ;)
What peer reviewed study has linked spread to a crowded soccer stadium? If you're talking about what I think you are at the beginning of the pandemic, the issue was most likely the out of town fans travelling to, eating in and socializing in the town which turned out to be highly infected. No study that I've seen has linked significant risk to any outdoor environment.

The most logical reason for capacity limits of outdoor venues is to keep the indoor spaces (bathrooms, etc.) from being too crowded.
But there already is some precedent in the govt knowing about one's vaccination history, as children have to provide vaccination records (or reason for lack thereof) in order to go to public school.
With this vaccine, there could certainly be a similar requirement to have a vaccination before going to public school. It's a "quid pro quo" type thing. If you want your child in public school, you will get them vaccinated and prove it. Having to prove vaccination or pay a fine or go to jail is a completely different concept.

Hopefully nearly all of the most vulnerable age group (at least those who want the vaccine) will be fully vaccinated and past the two week period by early May. Seems very possible at the current rate. Assuming the effectiveness in preventing serious illness and hospitalizations hold up, that should keep hospitalizations and deaths from being nearly as big an issue even if there is another spike like the winter spike in the under 65 population.

I’m here now!! It’s awesome!! We have been 3 times since this covid thing started and coming back in May. It’s a wonderful life. Thanks!!! Hope you can all visit soon. Cant wait for DL to open too.
And you are right I keep getting pulled back in. But I’m bored waiting for Epcot to open. Sorry, for jumping in again!! this time I am leaving this chat.
Have fun. We loved it last summer. Returning in June. There are required quarantined to return to Connecticut so it has to wait til the school year is done.

I thought cat and dog tended to be worse because they are typically deeper puncture wounds than a human bite, so more likely to get into the bloodstream and more difficult to clean the wound. (At least, that's what I was told when we I got bit by a cat and the vet sent me straight to the urgent care.)

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled mask discussion. My DD had a gymnastics competition, yesterday. Only 1 spectator per athlete, spectators and judges masked, athletes masked when not actively competing. So thoguh the girls took their masks off to perform, many kept them on while warming up. I think if someone can do high level gymnastics while wearing a mask, most of us shouldn't have a problem wearing one to buy groceries. :)
As a pet owner who has been bitten on accident more than once, I can only say that with proper washing I have never had a bite cause an infection. Once I didn't wash well and all we did was lance and clean. No antibiotics necessary. No blood infections though I am sure it could if ignored.

I wish I would see that level of masking in all sports. So far in our schools only sports have been seen as transmission. And yet they make no changes and still go on as usual for the players.

Not to a bad level. Maybe a slight uptick, but no massive surge. We're all only guessing though. But unless things started changing direction badly in the next few weeks I am going to guess no surge but maybe little bumps

I would not dream of kayaking in FL bodies of water. I could be lunch for the resident wildlife.

I do it all the time. It's cliched' but they're more afraid of us then we are of them. The problem [with gators at least] is out of staters who feed them or don't give them space, and they acclimate to being around humans. Then one day they get hangry...

We will see, but there may not gonna have another surge in weeks or months because vaccines are speeding up very fast.

Enough of questions, we don't know if we will ever get another surge by next month or beyond because vaccines will speed up ramping to stop variants like UK. @GoofGoof

Very true. Some guests I have heard staying at the $2K per night Poly bungalows were throwing food into the water from the water's edge to attract the gators which came hungry.

Masks primarily protect others from the wearer, not the wearer from others. If you choose not to wear a mask when among other people, you are endangering them more than you are yourself. Likewise, when people around you wear masks, they are doing more to help you than to help themselves.

I realise that there are differences of opinion on mask-wearing, but I find it bewildering that, almost a whole year on, there’s still confusion about what masks do.
Many of the most adamant mask wearers don't understand this.
Look at all of the people who still wear cloth masks when driving alone.
Look at all the people walking in say a supermarket parking lot, or in a park - far from others while wearing cloth masks.
