I'd bet that the type of person who bites another tends to not be the most hygenic of types.It is not a misnomer. Human bites that break the skin are almost always infected. Of the three most common bites we treat in the medical field, dog bites are the "cleanest", followed by cats, then human.
EDIT: And this has nothing to do with good or bad oral hygiene practices, it's simply the reality of the commensal oral bacteria that we live with.
