I suggest a neighborhood based system. In packs of no more than 7 kids.

Honestly, that’s a great suggestion.. but it’s solely relying on other people.. not an employer plan.

Look, I was in meetings for 2 days arguing about this and what we should implement. I lost. My company is not doing what I feel they should be doing. Instead, they’re offering to allow people to use their vacation time if needed/wanted.
I am so happy that there are other employers who are taking this seriously. What’s an afterthought to evidently many, is crucial to many more.

One of the things I told my friend. Surge capacity is required, China did it. Italy did not. Now I am wondering if a WDW hotel could be converted to hospital space. Not for the sickest, but the tier below. You can call me extremist but Florida is going to need extreme action.

This seemingly nation wide, two week social distancing, work and school from home, venue shutdowns, is an attempt to lessen that surge in the US. I know it will do something, but we will see if it’s enough.

It is our new normal. Waiting in line to pay at Walgreens, there was a commotion because a woman was complaining about social distancing when other customers were too close to her.

In my county all state licensed daycare facilities are on mandatory shutdown along with the schools for 14 days.

That’s not what I’m asking. Are you sure that there’s no alternatives for health care workers, or are you just assuming?
Like the Y (in my area) isn’t open for regular business.. they are specifically providing childcare to those who are in jobs where they can not take time off right now.

That's another concern. Humans aren't the most patient species and expecting all of us to be under so much financial and emotional strain and contain ourselves...

Did you not see the part where I said my husband already works 2 jobs for an equivalent of 70 hours? Disney is his main income. Just how much harder would you like him to work? Just curious.

There’s enough stress right now. Don’t pay attention to stuff like that, it’s purposely posted to get a rise.

This would require 1 of 3 child care needing households to volunteer as a child care center. Only those in the group are allowed to participate. If any family member associated with the child care group tests positive, the entire group quarintines.

Some may disagree but this is the greatest societal disruption since WWII. Why not draw on that experience to get through the challenge we face today.

Now is the time to get to know your neighbors

The Y is completely shut down. Mandated by the government as well. It’s only 14 days right now so that could change if this gets extended.

You’re in Kentucky, right? A coworker told me that KY students have a set 5 consecutive hours where they need to be online. This sounds almost impossible. Have you heard anything about that?
I'm in Indiana, I've had no communication except Chrome books sent home and assignments on Google Classroom. Hoping this week of spring break they send out more information.

This would be great in a perfect world.. but all of this happened so quickly that it’s just entirely unrealistic.
I agree with your ideas.. I just think it’s easier said than done.

We just have to hope the schools go back sooner rather than later.

I was using the Y as an example. My question was- Are you certain that your local hospitals and medical centers have not arranged any options for their staff?

There are still a lot of people burying their heads in the sand on this. This is an unprecedented health crisis, and an unfathomable financial crisis. Disney is going to be SLOW for quite a while. Like, a real long while. People are losing fortunes in the stock market. Small businesses, which are already a house of cards, are having those bottom cards pulled out every day, only a matter of time before they collapse. I could go on and on here, but in the interest of simplicity and stress management, I'll just say this. WDW is in for a 9/11 type slow down. We'll see how long it lasts, but count on a year AT LEAST.

Disney World may also reopen before all restrictions on international travel are lifted, which would also impact attendance.

Besides the vloggers, nobody is going to be rushing back to get in when the parks reopen. Most can't get there on short notice and they probably won't have the money as you say.

This appears to be a problem for each individual hospital- or even company - to solve, and most of us would have no way of knowing what plans have been put in place, unless we are, or know, an employee.

So to ask if someone is sure that nothing has been put in place is a question that can't really be answered - unless someone in the healthcare field, who also needs daycare, responds. And even then it would only apply to his/her specific situation, not across the board nationally.

Nothing is being done at the government level. I have no idea what individual facilities or people are doing. They would just need to get an exemption from the ban which is possible in theory, anything is possible at this point. We are in uncharted territory.

All areas and companies are doing different things right now...hospitals employ so many people, I am curious to know what’s happening in the different areas across the country. Some of it will be reported on local news, some people may know someone at a hospital, and some may just not know period.
None right or wrong, but answered from different people in different regions will help us understand the full scope of what’s going on... at least on that front.

Ok. This gives me hope that maybe it is happening. It wouldn’t be from the government.. I just pray that more and more companies step up the way we are seeing many do. Especially for health care workers who do not have the option of a forced vacation right now.
If this gets worse, we need all of the hospitals and medical centers to remain fully staffed.

Vloggers will be fine. I don’t know why they get such a hard time across these boards. I go to the parks at least twice a week and then turn around and watch park vlogs before bed. I’ll definitely be watching some park videos over the next few weeks, especially with this extra time at home.

She’s not a vlogger, but I watch AJ’s Disney Food Blog videos, which aren’t just about food. Her voice is so pleasant to listen to!
