Coranavirus Disneyland General Discussion

With the recent news about the continual rapid spread of the Delta variant I felt it was appropriate to revive this discussion.

Does anyone see Disneyland closing again soon? I think it very well could be a possibility.

Going back to the original post, do we see Disney shutting down if numbers don't improve? I am sad because things were looking hopeful and returning to normal until last week.

It depends upon how bad it gets. I truly believe that August is going to be a bloodbath in FL. That said, I am not sure Disney would shut down Disney World. And the Governor there is 100% Absolutely not going to shut anything down.

The #'s are not as bad in CA, but that can change on a dime. America is going to be a dumpster fire in August. So honestly, anything's possible. But I think they are going to try insufficient measures for as long as they can, and then if/when it doesn't help, shutdowns could certainly be on the table.

I think we'll be seeing 1,000 Deaths/Day in about 3 weeks.

So sad and so scary. I guess a lot is uncertain these days. I went from feeling safe (and was even at Disney World 2 days ago) to now being unsure of the future.

I swear if the pandemic gets bad enough that the music festival in September hosted by my absolute favorite artist that my girlfriend got us tickets for gets cancelled I'm going to be furious. I already had a concert last year in March for another music duo very high on my favorites list get cancelled and am going to be extremely sad if it happens again. Can't believe things were feeling normal again and now we're back here because so many people believe in some conspiracy that the government wants to kill its citizens with a vaccine for a GLOBAL pandemic. I've followed guidelines, been careful, and got vaccinated early, and now because the minority of people not being careful and refusing the vaccine have the most power to spread the virus things are getting bad again. This sucks so bad, we're going to be at year 3 of the pandemic before we can actually start getting past it at this point.

I have tickets to 7 concerts in September, 3 in October, and tickets to all 3 Amusement Parks' Halloween events. I too am going to be ed, but I'm not completely surprised, because I have come to accept the fact that we're a screwed up country, who can't do anything right, and so WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.

*sigh* I wasn't going to post something so detailed, but it has come up, so I feel like I need to say something.

I'm so upset with the CDC right now. That PowerPoint presentation that all of the news media has jumped on is being totally misrepresented. There is NOT conclusive evidence at this point that the delta variant can be spread by vaccinated people. Yes, there is some potentially worrisome circumstantial evidence, but not proof. They KNOW it isn't proof which is why their conclusion slide says "MAY be spread by vaccinated people" and why there is a sentence on the data page (in red!) that says "preliminary data and may change". Unfortunately the news latched onto the scary-sounding delta variant stuff, and here we are. I'm upset that the CDC thinks that "internal documents" exist in the age of FOIA and the internet and that they didn't word their presentation more clearly. What is VERY clear in the data is that the vaccines still keep people from getting sick or hospitalized (delta or not!).

Anyway, the bottom line remains the same (broken record, here I come): The vaccines still work. Get vaccinated. There's no way out of this without vaccination.

I always like drawing comparisons, so here's one I came up with.

Wearing a seat belt and having an air bag may not prevent you from getting injured in a car crash. They will save you from flying through the windshield and dying though.

Of note, our poop has yet to take off... curious that our poop is still flat lined.

CA sets a 2021 single day record for New Cases with over 10,000 reported in last 24 hours.

And we're just warming up.

Meanwhile, FL is at over 21K New Cases with a population that's 18,000,000 lower than California's.

While this is problematic I am hoping that as long as the ER capacity and mortality rates are significantly lower than they were during the last spike given the presence of a largely effective vaccine hopefully we may (as a society) find a way to better manage the pandemic that may avoid another complete economic shutdown.

I just really wish we’d (as a society) open ourselves up to more reasonable measures like strongly encouraging (if not mandating) masking and vaccines. A belt and suspenders approach is the best and least abrasive way to safely navigate this without pushing us into more extreme measures.

I really believe/hope almost no one wants an economic shutdown. It’s better to turn off autopilot and navigate through the turbulence than crash the plane in frustration.

Hospitals in central Florida are filling up. AdventHealth, a major regional hospital system, has more COVID-19 patients than they have ever had. The hospitals have cancelled all non-emergency procedures due to capacity issues. People who have been vaccinated, who are in agonizing pain that will be relieved with surgery are stuck waiting in pain.

There are some who will self medicate In many forms in addition to doctor prescriptions. Take care all who are in pain.
