Construction bids going out for TLM attraction?

Yea I know. When it comes to quoting budgets I tend to go below the "official" number just out of principal. I've heard $150 million and up for LMR! You and I both know that these budgets are waaaaayyyyyy overinflated. If my company (or most other independent themed entertainment design firms for that matter) were given the same budget for any Disney E-ticket we could deliver much more.

The exception would be in the AA realm. However, if we were given 2 projects with E-ticket sized budgets we would use a portion of the first for AA R&D to enable us to retrofit and modify the incredible robotics technologies already available. After that the sky is the limit!

Well, enough dreaming for now. I just hate the fact that with the amount of money WDI wastes on one projet alone, we could build an amazing attraction. Another way to look at it, with one WDI E-ticket budget we could build 3 amazing attractions.

That's very unfortunate. Why does a company so hellbent on saving every last nickel allow this go on?

I'm indifferent to this. While I love Nemo, there's probably enough of him between The Seas and the AK show. I would really love to see Crush Coaster come to WDW, however.

If they're going to put in a new TLM attraction it would be a good opportunity to phase out the show in DHS. Or at the very least majorly update it. I saw it last summer and the effects and technology are embarrassingly '80s.

Also, where would TLM dark ride go in MK?

Considering that the ride would be built, The "Show" at DHS would probably be closed. Why have the same "experience" with "paid for" Animatronics, and one that you have to pay for weekly ( AEA actors, "support" actors/dancers, and Techs.)?

The same reason we have a Nemo show at DAK and a Nemo pavilion at EC.

True...but I mean, the LM show at the studios could definitely stand to be replaced...so, I couldn't see them having both this new ride and the old (90s state of the art) stage show up and running at the same time for too terribly long. It could happen, but I don't see it happening.

While Donosaur, EE and the like could be considered E-tickets, the important part of my post was the statement, "to meet the quality standards set by Disney." They meet the litmus tests to be E-tickets, mainly because of their budgets and size, but that's about all they have going for them.

I would say everything you have on your list would be an E-ticket except TSMM (D), MILF(C), and Soarin'(D).

In regard to your question concerning TLM, the budget will be close to the $100 million mark and the attraction will include advanced AA, full-scale physical sets, elaborate effects etc. Pooh in Tokyo meets every criteria for E-ticket status in complexity, budget, sets, production etc.
Out of curiosity, what is EE missing? It's beautifully themed queue, the forced prospective changing your view of the mountain from far away to when you get right next to it, the ride itself (tea trains, the story, the yeti...when it's working).

To be honest I think they did as good of a job researching and delivering disney quality for EE as they did for ToT (and WAY better then a ride like pirates or BTRR)

Really? My kids (and the other kids I see in the show) love it.. not sure technology is the biggest issue when it comes to an attraction.. afterall.. Thunder mountain is a tame rollercoaster by todays standards, but you don't see calls to level it? It's all about quality of an attraction, not 'technology'..

Oh, don't get me wrong...I love TLM attraction in the studios too. (TLM is my favorite movie!) But if Disney made this awesome attraction at the MK...I can see them possibly deciding to retire the attraction at the Studios. Of course, it's not a definite that I know they would do that, but I can see them considering it.

TLM show is also still very popular, though. Could it use an update? Sure, but in the great scheme of things, I think DHS has some much bigger problems to deal with than TLM show.

Considering it's still popular after 17 years I don't see the once thought to be temporary Mermaid show at DHS going anytime soon. As far as I'm concerned it juts needs a digital projector and the Triton laser effect to work regularly. It's still fun to watch, even though I wish it were longer.

Beauty and the Beast on the other hand, could leave tomorrow and I would not miss it.

Is that the effect where the green lasers in the front / sides started at the top and then descended with the water mist to give the illusion of "going underwater"? I've missed that effect for quite a while. It was totally "immersive"!
