Okay, so I know that we are only on Fantasyland, but I wanted to propose something that would be how we proceed for the overall park.
What if instead of using the traditional hub and spoke layout, we used the ring layout, as commonly used in Universal parks. It would add something unique to our park and just be cool. This is way ahead of ourselves, but still a fun idea.

A really classy and elegant but kind of modern color scheme. Something like white bricks and red roof. Also, please don't make it as boxy as Shanghai's because that's the real death knell for that castle. It was almost classy and gorgeous before about the last 1/8th on each side.

That's funny, because that's the only solution I see right now as to how we'd meld the two types of architecture. But, now that you say it, it does look rather fake... we'll figure something out!

I'd be hesitant, because hub-and-spoke is so intuitive, but I'm open, if we can do it right!

If we do this, we'll definitely need to make sure our train can handle the amount of people who will use it as actual transportation and not just a relaxing ride. :bookworm: :geek: Or use boats like at Epcot. Maybe both...

@spacemt354 Do you think we're at a place to start dividing up work, or do we need to continue to brainstorm? For this and Villains land.
I'm not sure we are. I personally have no clue as what we have a agreed on. Are we doing a Fantasia Gardens or are we going with a heavy forested look? Is Toad going in Fantasyland or Critter Country, is it going to be a wild mouse? Are we using the Reluctant Dragon idea, or Robin Hood or Sword in the Stone? The circus area is a big question mark as well for me.

I don't think we are ready yet to divide everything up -- however like Beauty and the Beast/Villains Mini-Land -- when we have an area that we all agree on, the people who want to work on it can break off and do so!

For instance, the castle theme is pretty much set in stone.

As for everything in the land -- maybe we take a different approach than what we have. I'm in no rush with the brainstorming -- like I enjoy going back and forth listening and contributing some ideas. That's fun to me! And it's something that in competitions tends to be rushed because of deadlines and due dates.

Fantasyland is a large land -- we all don't have to agree on everything but the approach that we could take is if someone (or a few people) are passionate about doing Winnie the Pooh for instance...then my suggestion would be to break off and brainstorm it...then come back to the group with a semi-finished project and we can talk about it/edit it/etc -- that is if you're itching to start some content.

That's why Kap's Jolly Holiday ride and @Imagineerland 's attractions like A Tangled Tale are so helpful -- because they are already finished concepts, which makes it a lot easier for a large group to visualize and plop down in the land. :bookworm:

If we keep talking in hypothetical terms about 75% of the land -- everyone will always have a different spin on it (which is fine) but if you're wanting to start content, I'd say go for it...then come back here and now the process of deciding "what" to do...becomes the process of "where" to place it and "how" it fits. The elimination of the "what" in brainstorming might help us not spin our wheels for weeks.

I guess my concern is that I don't want to start working on something only to come back and told we're not going to use it. That would be incredibly frustrating to me. Is there a way we can nail down some definites?

At this point, all of these attractions have been discussed for about a week, with no qualms about their inclusion -- just brainstorming where and how (like what ride system, what direction to take these IPs)

The ones I wouldn't be too sure on are the Meet and Greets, QS and TS restaurants, flat rides, and so on -- those are still in flux.

I guess thats where I'm confused, I thought Winnie the Pooh was not going in Fantasyland (I don't care at this point) but I guess I keep missing where we talked about certain ideas. :bookworm:

And this is where I think the fine tuning of the brainstorming process will help. We keep talking in hypothetical terms and one minute Winnie the Pooh is in Fantasyland, the next Critter Country, the next it doesn't exist, and then it's back in Fantasyland. For people not keeping up or involved in the convo that can be weird.

So my suggestion to remedy that would be -- if Winnie the Pooh for example is in Fantasyland, and you feel strongly it shouldn't or should, rather than talk hypothetically -- I think we should write up a brief synopsis of our concept (similar to how kap drew up a rough sketch of the map)

That way we have something concrete to visualize and then decide?:bookworm:

And to answer the question -- it did get moved back to Fantasyland because enough people liked the idea of including Pooh and the hundred acre wood would be a nice transition into a woodsy area of Frontierland.

Initially I wanted Pooh in Fantasyland, but with how big Fantasyland got, and with Critter Country being right beside Fantasyland, I proposed that it could go in Critter Country. That way, Pooh would actually be able to have its own mini land, or at least some additional flatrides (my idea was that every segment of the original package film would have its own attraction). People probably still think I'm adamant that it goes in Fantasyland, but I'm not.

Okay, that makes a lot of sense. I'm just nervous that if we let the brainstorming process linger for too long that we'll lose touch with the project, you know?

The Reluctant Dragon is still something I wanna do, in addition to the Fantasia attraction going in tangent with the Castle. I'd really love to keep my Pooh in Fantasyland concept alive, if there's any interest in it, as well.

I'll make a brainstorming thread very soon for Fantasia!:D

No I actually dislike the Paris castle. I was just thinking a touch of Neuschwanstein or you know what I'm just gonna talk in pictures

Combine that stuff together. The breadth of the castle you suggested a few of the architectural pieces from Neuschwanstein, the color palate and some stylizing (stretched a bit higher, extra glass) of Cinderella.

The hub would be forested and gardened. As you get closer (to the blank spot on the map). I'm thinking something that would feel like these two images. Part of the ride would go through this area. (Or some sort of attraction)
View attachment 193523 View attachment 193524

The interior of the castle might feel like this
View attachment 193529
The queue would be like this Underneath the castle
View attachment 193526

Whereas the attraction would feel more stylized and really colorful.
View attachment 193525 Can't attach any more pictures but I hope that clears stuff up.
My thoughts exactly for this castle. Though Disneyland Paris' Sleeping Beauty Castle is stunning in person. It ties into the romanticised lands of the park very well, but I agree that it should not be the direction taken with Fantasia.

I think the consensus is it's on the border between Fantasyland and frontierland.
Totally missed this conversation. o_O  :hilarious:

My idea is that the four major lands (fantasy, tomorrowland, etc.) would have transition lands b/w them. Critter would be b/w frontier and fantasy, discovery cove would be b/w fantasy and tomorrow, and worlds fair would be between Main Street and tomorrow. I thought Mansion should go in one of the other two transitions, but I don't know which one.
