Speaking of tangents and effects there's one jaw dropper the poppins ride that I haven't been able to figure out a satisfactory way to do - and I know there has to be a way.

At one point in the beginning of the ride you'll see a life size painting of the countryside and ideally want it to just sort of fade away to be replaced with the 3 dimensional one. Very much like the scrim effect of the jungle book show back in the early days of animal kingdom. The only issue is I want the vehicle to then go through it. And obviously you can't go through a scrim. My best attempt at a solution is inspired by Ellen and the terminator rides. Both of which demonstrate that a stationary project on a moving screen completely masks the movement of the screen. (that's how they get the motorcycle in and out of the screen - the whole thing lifts up to reveal a small cutout in the bottom that is filled in with fog). I want to take that a step further and use a scrim instead of screen, project onto the foreground of the scrim the 2d chalk drawing then with a lighting change and colored smoke, the scrim would move revealing a cutout for the vehicle to move through. In theory it would work but it's clunky. And not as jaw dropping as something that was like purely optics and mirror based. I think something with peppers ghost might be achievable. If say a diagonal piece of glass is stretched across the room and then the vehicle moves around that glass but idk - that would be extremely difficult to mask.

Anyway thoughts?

Will think about that and get back to you tomorrow:)

Alrighty, so if I'm understanding this right, the canvas turns into the scene itself?

I'm almost wondering if the Pirates Davy Jones effect, tweaked a little, might work. It would be a bit clunky, but imagine the countryside reflected on non-colored smoke, to produce an image in front of you. As the smoke dissipates, the scene behind it is revealed...but the illusion is held strong because the smoke would only take a few seconds to disappear. As it goes away, it gives your mind time to adjust and then you can see the scene itself?

Makes me want a SB rematch next year, just to see Odell step up and prove himself and to see Brady to Cooks again and again and again! Wide receivers galore :greedy::greedy:

If I ever get carried away with my Pats fandom, please let me know :hilarious:
Haha it's all good -- being in Boston turned me into a Celtics and Patriots sub-fan -- as in if my actual team isn't winning, they are the backups:p

Yeah I'm really trying to avoid a smoke screen because they just look like smoke screens and not solid. But I think I might have answered my own question. As something like this should work.

Basically you approach and will see the reflected drawing. The ride path moves around the glass but before you pass it the lighting changes causes it to disappear. Then you round the other side of the glass (the edge of which is disguised by columns). The place where the actual frame and picture is hidden behind a scrim that is painted to look the same as the other wall (or it's on a turntable, behind a sliding wall, etc there are options). Thanks I found this discussion very productive!

Anyone else have thoughts on the massive picture post about the castle @MA_Screamin and I have been talking about?

A really classy and elegant but kind of modern color scheme. Something like white bricks and red roof. Also, please don't make it as boxy as Shanghai's because that's the real death knell for that castle. It was almost classy and gorgeous before about the last 1/8th on each side.

Reading this over again this morning - it sounds like an amazing design -- I wonder what a physics guru like @Pionmycake thinks with all the lens and optics:D

In theory it should definitely work and its a really clever, smart solution, but I wonder if a simpler solution might work better. It might be better to just have the scrim be on a door the slides out of the way.

Like the chalk drawing is projected on it, the drawing fades so you see the real Scene behind the scrim, and then the scrim slides away.

It wouldn't be as mind blowing, but it would be way simpler andmuch more straight forward for riders.

No I actually dislike the Paris castle. I was just thinking a touch of Neuschwanstein or you know what I'm just gonna talk in pictures

Combine that stuff together. The breadth of the castle you suggested a few of the architectural pieces from Neuschwanstein, the color palate and some stylizing (stretched a bit higher, extra glass) of Cinderella.

The hub would be forested and gardened. As you get closer (to the blank spot on the map). I'm thinking something that would feel like these two images. Part of the ride would go through this area. (Or some sort of attraction)

The interior of the castle might feel like this

The queue would be like this Underneath the castle

Whereas the attraction would feel more stylized and really colorful.
View attachment 193525 Can't attach any more pictures but I hope that clears stuff up.
Yes!! If this is what we are doing could I help do some of the designs?

I'm sure it did! Very detailed -- actually made me want to go visit the resort (one of the few I haven't been to yet!)
Nice! You'd really like it. We were fortunate enough to stay in one of the Car's suites, and it was amazing (as you can see on the video)!
My wife and I enjoy just going to the resort to eat at the Food Court and to take a walk. :)

You should make yet another thread where you just post the nightly recaps, cuz they are very hard to find
That's probably I didn't do one last night so the last one is 10 pages back or so haha -- that's a good idea.

Actually I was planning on making a projects thread - reserved for when we finish each concept -- so maybe I'll combine that idea with the nightly recaps. I'll try that tonight!
