The Disney Dork in me is wondering if it's possible to see anything over the construction wall from the second floor windows of Columbia Harbour House? I may just have to take a look for myself when I get there in August! LOL!

Let the speculation begin (although that probably already did when they first announced the Mansion's rehab) I absolutely love that sign. I am hoping that my favorite Disney attraction gets its proper work and it looks like new when it re-opens September 13 (the rehab lasts until the 12th, 1st day for guests is the 13th)

As a former Mansion CM, I am sooooooooo excited to see everything that happens. I love the touch of Master Gracey's note - it's classic Disney - and what sets it apart from other theme parks.

IIRC this is actually the most extensive rehab Florida's Haunted Mansion has ever gotten. So be sure to make a note of this in the history books folks.

Of the many different construction walls that I have seen at DisneyWorld, this one had to be the best from the note to the gate to the shape of the wall itself. Can't wait to see it opened in two more trips for me.

Had two points I wanted to share.

First, the sign from Master Gracey is awesome. MK's Haunted Mansion DOES NOT have an official story... or at least it didn't! It looks like one of the CM's favorite unofficial stories behind a ride might be put into circulation.

Also, the 'ring' outside the mansion. I was told it was not part of any former gate, but a piece of metal accidentally pushed into the concrete during laying. By the time anyone noticed, it was too late to get it out and not worth relaying the concrete, and then it developed tales around it.

Amazing.

Absolutely amazing.

And I was kind of wondering about the whole cast member situation as well... I'm moving down there August 13, and as far as my rep has led me to believe, I'm going to be in the Mansion... so...

What will I be doing in the meantime? Heh...

Covering the ring, uncovering it? Maybe there will be a different story than CA. It would be good for the ride. Don't get me wrong I love the one there last summer but a clone refurb isn't really that great. Maybe there will be a story line involving it. Have any of you seen the haunted mansion book. In the back it has concept sketches. I wonder if any will come through.

It's like the original sign for HM. I'm so excited!

Kudos for Disney for finally closing an attraction for the "peak season" crowd. I see more of the "love for "off season" guests in the future!!:)

A wall that large and that far away from the entrance can only mean one thing: they are building or rebuilding something in front of the mansion. Perhaps the long awaited shop? A larger queue? An animatronic fountain? (who says I can't dream?)

And the words "new spirits" also leave one to believe more additions are to come to the the mansion as well. I hope we get that WDW gets the same treatment that DL got plus more!

It would be so cool to see the Hat Box Ghost show up, but the additions I've heard are enough to keep me happy.

They will move to another attraction, just as they can do if picking up extra hours. Of course they can't really roleplay like they do at HM.

Awesome that you are choosing to work for Disney. Always great to have people who love what Disney is about (even if it's not love for the company) and making the Guests have a better time. Unfortunately, for many, it's just a paycheck. But you may like attractions anywhere. The novelty of working at HM is just that...novelty. Because such things don't create job satisfaction. All about who you work with and what you do at that location.

Thanks so much for your reply. Yeah, I'm all for making the guests happy, and my experiences at Disney are what make my stays enjoyable. Every time I've gone through the mansion (and our other haunted attraction, the Hollywood Tower) I have had some GREAT actors, some good ones, and some that just really didn't seem to care anymore. I would love to be one of the actors that just completely scares the bajebus or impresses a mansion lover the most. I always give compliments to the great cast members at the mansion, because I know they enjoy it, even if they can't respond. It's one of those things where, at the end of the day, you feel awesome because you convinced someone else you were an awesome actor.

I hope it doesn't get a shop. I don't hate anything more than stepping out of an attraction into a store.

I do agree, but I would love to see some awesome HM merchandise. I woulda been just as happy if they put HM merchandise in one of the shops in Liberty Square, but as it is, they have never had much HM merchandise (and the presence of the HM cart over the years has been sporatic), and it's too cool of an attraction not to have a lot of merchandise. However, with the HM's astronomical hourly capacity, I don't know that they could force guests through whatever small shop they could fit near the exit, so it may just be off to the side w/ a bypass. If every guest had to go through some confined shop, it'd be a mad-house. They can't really fit a shop of the scale found over at Pirates.

Very cool sign. Good to see officaly that Master Gracy is our "ghost host". I have high hopes for this so lets see it done right. I would also like to see more HM merch. which I'm sure we will get. As for putting a shop there I believe would be a bit cramped so I'm thinking its mostly queue revamp. As far as the ring one can only guss if it will survive the refurb. My fondest wish would be for them to embrace the legand & add to the ring to make it more ring like but I know I'm asking a lot. Now I must be off because I'm DEAD tired (pun sooo intended) but heres to the refurb we have all been waiting for.
