These pictures popped up on DISboards a little bit ago. I don't think that these photos belong to the poster from the link you gave.

It looks like a scene from Logan's Run or Life After People! I always wanted to go there when I was young, but never got the chance. Don't think I'd like to try it today!

That is just Sad! I'm glad I got to visit it when it was around, my 9 year old as well got to visit it though she will never remember. We got some great pics, especially one of Goofy going down one of the water slides!
It is kinda creepy though the way it looks in those pics...Surprised they never did anything to it...seems like such a waste.:(

Man as a kid I loved that place, there was something classic and friendly about it. The good ole' days when life was just a little simpler. Now it must be mosquito heaven!!!!!! Man I wonder what I ingested when I would accidently swallow that water!!!!

You don't want to know, lol... I remember going a couple times when I was probably 5-10 in the late 70's early 80's... until my mom contracted a very rare skin disease from the water, and then we never went back! The only time I remember getting lost as a kid was at River Country, lol... but holy cow did I love it!

that place was awesome! they had a great inner tube ride. It was rough as i remember. Now everything is all smooth and perfect. They also had a hanging zip line over the water that you had to let go of and fall in the lake, or else you woud hit the end where there was a tire and crash into the wood. I imagined it closed for safety reasons.

Um...Alligators...hello?

LOL, that would add a real danger element to it huh?!

I don't think the Wally Gators were the problem. I believe there were barriers between the lagoon and the swimming area to keep the critters out. No, I fear it was nervous and litigation wary execs that killed River Country.

For those that don't know, there is an amoeba that lives in natural bodies of water that can cause death if they infect the brain. It is more of a concern in Florida because the water temperature is higher. The cases are extremely rare, so I think the regulations are unnecessary. I have been swimming in lakes and rivers in Florida my entire life. Its too bad they shut the place down, it looked fun. Much simpler and more inviting than the other water parks.
