Cinderella's Golden Carrousel to change its name June 1

My biggest problem with this is that it just seems like a waste of money that could have been better spent elsewhere. Somebody was paid to come up with that ridiculous story and clunky name. Somebody was paid to create the new signage that will be going up. Somebody has to change the park maps. I see investment, but not a whole lot return.

It reminds me of something like

Law and Order: Special Victims Unit

It just doesn't flow.

THERE SHOULD BE AN '!!
Except that the unit does not belong to the Special Victims...

At least according to the article we all get a happy ending .

Heh anyway , the new fantasy land is way to girly. Actually all of Disney is way to girly. I go 3 times a year and I have a 15 month old nephew. The ratio for boys clothing to girls clothing is easily 1 piece of boy clothing for every 10 pieces of girls clothing. The rides are easily slanted in favor of little girls also.

I think the main problem is that what apeals to the majority of young girls does not apeal to the majority of boys . Mean while most girls will still be able to enjoy the boy stuff at Magic kingdom.

I fact I don't really know whats Boy only in the park.

Its sad that my Nephew's and most likely my children (hopefully in a few years) will love Universal studios because of Harry potter and dislike Magic kingdom.

What a terriable name change, it doesnt flow at all and whats the point of it anyways?

Maybe next they will change COP to Walt Disney's round rotating theater of tommorow! :hammer:

This move was purely to cut down on the confusion surrounding two separate locations (Castle and Royal Table) and an upcoming attraction in the new Fantasyland expansion.

I believe that these little changes show big promise for the expansion.

Didn't the castle belong to Prince Charming before he married Cindy? It only became Cinderella castle AFTER they tied the knot.

What's hers is hers - what's his is her's. You know the drill.

So therefore Prince C. is taking back part of what was rightfully his all along.

:lookaroun

If thats that case, it should be out in the garage, up on blocks, with the fenders off as Ol' Prince Charming puts some new headers on it.

It doesnt make a difference what name it is, how many 8 year boys really care about a merry go round to begin with? Yes , i said merry go round, same as carousel. Both have horses that go up and down and go in circles. Same as the name change, who cares. It does not make any more appealing for boys over the age of say 6 or 7.

Also totally guilty of still saying "MGM" and I'm sure I won't follow this name change either,If they wanna make a carousel more boy like why not put up a new one (while still keeping this one) have a brass ring that looks like a lassoo and instead of all horses have it all toy Story themed like rex,Bullseye, the piggy bank,a rocket for buzz n the springy dog, that would be tres cool!!!

You know how these divorce settlements could get ugly, so why not just do the inevitable? Half will be Cinderella's Golden Carroussel and the other half Prince Charming Regal Carroussel.

Lawyers representing each will lead guests onto the ride and heckle as their opposing side passes by OR even get the face characters to argue with the guests! :) disney magic

Wow I love the passion on here either way about things like this, its fantastic!!

For some reason I dont mind the name Prince Charming, it does fit in and cause less confusion but if they think thats going to fill the void of boypower in fantasyland...I think not. But the Regal part of the name needs to go!!!!!!!!!! It sounds like a movie theater or something. Please!!

Im still more upset about the people mover narration change which is the dumbest thing they have ever done recently, who was in charge of that I would like to know?? If it was Imagineering then thats scary. Ok I realize thats not really a name change thing but it came to mind.

Oh I still call MGM MGM too, lol, always will. Same with Dixie Landings and Port Orleans.

I guess it doesnt matter in the grand scheme, its just fun to discuss the change. This thread certainly proves the love for Disney World. Interesting opinions.

I like the backstory, but gosh darn it Disney, if you are going to tease me with being able to grab a brass ring, then make it so! Only a handful of carousels still have those, it would be awesome for them to put one in.

I was thinking the same thing when reading the backstory.

Personally I don't see why every ride must have a backstory. I guess it makes sense but still, rides like pirates and small world survived without any backstory, I don't see why all the new rides need a story.

Espcially when that backstory is as forced and dumb as this one.

Eh... I have been going to WDW since I was born..... in 1971. I have seen just about EVERY change that has happened at WDW. I will be honest, do I think it was worth the hassle of a name change, not really. On the other hand, I dont think the name change is bad enough to loose sleep over.
