Cinderella's Golden Carrousel to change its name June 1

Well in all honesty, the new fantasyland is really girly. I'm glad they're expanding it and I think it will be nice to look at when it's complete, but you could basically rename it to "princess and fairyland" as thats what it will be. Disneylands fantasyland will still be better imo because it has actually rides and is not just a pretty big meet and greet.

Can I complain about the back story ?

If you are going to practice the ring spearing event at the joust, and you were a prince with, I assume, a stable full of horses, why wouldn't you just practice on a horse?

Why would you build a giant wooden spinning contraption out in a field somewhere?

If this was to practice an event where the horse or rider could get hurt, then sure. But to practice ring spearing? Prince Charming is a bet tetched if you ask me.

I like the backstory, but gosh darn it Disney, if you are going to tease me with being able to grab a brass ring, then make it so! Only a handful of carousels still have those, it would be awesome for them to put one in.

Stop complaining. How many of you actually called it "Cinderella's Golden Carousel"? I am willing to bet many of you call it simply the "Carousel". Most people probably do.

There is nothing wrong with a deeper backstory either. I suppose this is when the WDWMagic change allergy comes in. This will most likely tie in to the new FL's backstory better.

Actually...that is the origin of the carousel...they were built as training aids for the knights to practice...without having to tend/equip the horses, etc...

Here, here.

I knew that the usual nihilists were going to start spitting out their usual venom once word of this change leaked out. That's exactly how predictable the negative types around here have since become... :lookaroun

I would assume they are doing this due to the fact that Cinderella will have her own section of the expansion forest. To cut down on the confusion about why Cinderella's carousel is not near her house in the forest where you can meet her, it make sense that it should be renamed for the original occupant of the castle (the prince was living there before he married Cindy), regardless of what the castle is called.

Read the story that was published on the main news page.

The Carousel's new storyline takes place AFTER Cindy and the Prince married.

I liked Cinderella's Golden Carousel name better…
But it makes sense cuz Prince Charming probably rides horses… I don't know. Sorry if I'm wrong with that fact.
I haven't seen the movie Cinderella in years…

Good thought, and also... I love you photo. That commercial is on a loop on it's own channel practically. We put it on and enjoy some laughs, then get annoyed. "IF YOU DON'T BUY DIRECT! YOUR PAYING TOO MUCH!" LOL

We (my kids and I) always called it Cinderella's Carousel - leaving out the Golden part. I don't mind the name change, I just think the back story is weak.

What does it matter truly? I mean they're changing the name, not the ride. You all need to chill. Just because it's gonna have Prince Charming's name in it doesn't mean you have to call it that, just like what WDW Vacationer said. It's not that big a deal. Thing's need change sometimes, and Disney sees this as one of those times. Speaking of Change. I'm in favor of a certain person who like's "change". Anyone else if you catch my drift.

P.S. The names in my signature. It was cool for him to be in my town, but I still don't agree with him. O and sorry for this, but I'm big for random thoughts.

If you are going to rename it, why not call it Mary Poppin's Carousel since Mary is the one who does meet and greets there... or would that be too obvious? :brick:
