Yeah, I could tell you didn't get that one! Honestly, it probably wouldn't have occurred to me, either, if I didn't hear so many stories from DH. He does financial advising in addition to taxes, and you would NOT believe some of the stuff he hears.... Just yesterday he told me of a couple who came in, and they had $15K in credit card debt... From things like vacations, home improvements, etc. I couldn't sleep at night if we had that kind of CC debt.
I had over 30K in student loans, and it made me so anxious.... Talk about being happy when it was finally paid off! :sohappy:
Wow... and I thought DH's 4k in cc debt before we got married was a good amount...

Congrats girl! Paying off 30k is AMAZING!!! :sohappy:

:wave:Back from lunch!

So, just curious....why stay away from H&R? :veryconfu I used them last year and I thought they did ok.

From what I have heard they are extremely overpriced. I had a client call the other day inquiring about pricing and a tax return that we would have done for her for $80-90 dollars, H&R told her it would be more like $150-200.
Also I don't believe the people they hire are truly qualified for some of the work they are doing.

Dang. Any suggestions of other companies? I used to do it myself, but not sure if I could now that I have to file in 2 different states. :o

Yup, Katy is spot on. DH says they basically train people off the street to work there during tax season, and they often don't know the ins and outs of tax law. I'm talking to DH now, and he says in his experience, he's never once seen a tax return done properly by H & R Block.

DH says to look for a CPA... he said to ask your coworkers if they know of anyone.

I had to file in two different states once, and it was actually the year I did it manually--printed the forms off the IRS Webstie and did them all by hand. It really depends on the complexity of your states taxes. At the time, I had to fill out both Illinois and Indiana tax forms. Ill. taxes are a piece of cake really, though Ind. was rather tedious since they have both state and county taxes. Though now, I live in Tennessee and we don't have state income taxes at all.

Good for you! As long as it is going down you are going in the right direction!

How was lunch?
It really is hard to say I don't need things. We used to charge to out to eat also. Now we try not to unless it is for a celebration of some sort.:zipit:

Lunch was good. We had hamburgers and fries. Which the fries were a tad bit saltly but they were okay. oh and we paid cash.:D
