Chillin' with Magic Friends!

Hi all..:)

Hugs Amy hope the kitty is okay...

Kat..I use a tax thing online like Turbo Tax..as a matter of fact I did our taxes yesterday online and was done in about an hour or so.

I go over it several times to make sure I get everything right..cause I am paranoid...;)

It is really easy and you get the refund in a quick amount of time.

I have been doing our taxes for years and no problems at all..:)

Oh and for all who do not get an email..new Maggie pics..:)

CUTE ONES!

I've used Turbo Tax for the past few years as well, but this year I'm thinking things may be a bit more difficult. Well, at least there's more to think about with Derek's new job, etc.

Oh goodness. Absolutely praying for kitty!!

Thanks for your insight Katy. We've made quite a lot of donations in the past year. I don't think we've ever taken the time to itemize them all... isn't there a certain aount you can claim without itemizing? I think we've done that. But this year, I'm sure it would be better for us to itemize all our donations.

With the benefits of DH's job when it comes to taxes, we'll probably have someone do it next year, when all those perks come into effect. But this year I'm trying it on my own again with Turbo Tax and hoping for the best. I really have no idea whether we'll pay or get a refund. I'm in a job that pays a lot more than the one I had last year, but we've also donated a lot.... I guess we'll see...

Any amount donated that is $250 or more must be documented. You can put the total on the line in schedule A, but I would keep an itemized list for your records and keep it with your hard copy of the form. When did Derek start working at the church?

He started in June. But the benefits, such as deducting "housing" costs, social security, etc. won't come into effect until this summer.

We're keeping the records. For the most part, we'll only have three different lists of donations (our church and it's building fund, another local organization and GoodWill). I'm not even sure it's worth it to claim the goodwill thing... all we have is a rinky- receipt of the items we've donated there over the year...

Thanks Dana! I can't believe you've done your taxes already! We still don't have all the forms from the different organizations that should be sending us one!

Called the vet right away, and they had me call Animal Poison Control. The doctor there said that they assess these things by a weight to milligram ratio...a dose of 8 = potential kidney failure. Stewart's dose = 17!!!! I took him right to the vet where they will have him on iv's and a counter medication. They have to keep him for two days but I just got off the phone with the doc and she says the prognosis is fair to good. So please pray, y'all, cause I love that stupid cat.

Oh no! Poor kitty.:(

Prayers coming.

Oh, no! Hoping he's okay, Amy!

Very well put, Katy. As you guys know, my husband is a tax professional; he is a licensed CPA and holds a Master's degree in Taxation. He has done so many revisions of his client's returns b/c they tried to do it themselves, I can't even count them all. Yes, paying a tax pro stinks, but the money he saves his clients (b/c he knows all of the current rules/regs) is well worth the fee he charges.

Whatever you do, DO NOT go to H & R Block! :dazzle:

Yes I agree, H&R Block is the worst place you can go. I would do them myself before going there.
I feel if your returns are fairly simple and you have experience in doing them yourself then go for it! But like Kristin said, alot of times the professionals can save you so much more because they know what to do to get you the best refund.

I heart accountants! I could never do my own taxes even though all I have is a W-2.

And I am soooo not cleaning today!

I didn't mean if you only have a W-2 to not use an accountant, I just meant if you have done it yourself in the past and feel comfortable doing that then to save money to do it on your own.
But of course if you are ever unsure then use a professional to help you! :)

Thanks love..:)

Hi Jo! and thanks!

Whew...all out of breath...I just ran outside and gave the trash guys their very late Christmas gift. Just $5 to Dunkin Donuts. Am I a cheapskate? I always agonize over what to give...
