"Chicken Little" critical for Disney reputation

Go See Chicken Little

Just got back from seeing Chicken Little. After reading some of the scathing reviews, I have to wonder....did those reviewers have something crawl up their @$$ and die? ? Its a good, entertaining film!

I really felt for the characters and I love the main four, Runt, Fish, and Mallard, and of course, CL. The movie left me wanting to see it again and see more of these characters.

You can't help but feel for CL and his plight.

My only beef are the pop songs which pull you out of the film a bit, like REM's End of the World...it was funny for the trailer, not necessary in the film.

BTW, I saw the 7:15 show and it was 75% full in a 400 seat theater. MANY families with little kids with sprinkling of tweens. There was a show playing seemling every 15-30 minutes so I think that is a good turnout.

Only Disney previews I saw were for gy Dog....(got laughs at the end, but otherwise, looked...eh....bad) and Eight Below, which looks interesting.

I think Chicken Little film will have good Word of mouth. I will definitely see it again in the theater.

I agree, what's not to like about this movie. It may be a little simplistic visually compared to other CGI movies, but it's funny and it has a lot of heart. Apparently at the previews, they gave the critics crack. At least the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette gave it **** (4 stars, not the f-word) out of 4

I saw it in Disney Digital 3-D and it was AMAZING. Those of you who are lucky enough to have a theater nearby, spring for the extra two dollars, because it really makes a difference. I had my doubts going into it, that it would give me a headache like in PhilharMagic or HISTA, but It wasn't like that.

And you get to keep the glasses.

See, you can trust us Pittsburghers. We know what makes a good movie. Too bad the Burgh doesn't have it in 3D. Lucky for me I'm in college in Cincinnati, where we have 2 theaters with 3D Chicken Little. Go see it, it's an excellent time!

What makes this Rotten Tomatoes site the best source for movies?
You can find something on the internet to support any argument.

735 (as of right now) Yahoo movies users give Chicken Little an average grade of B. http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808610262/user. Also, according to yahoo users, it is rated the same as Toy Story 2 and A Bug's Life

Is it the best disney movie ever? no
But I was laughing at it a lot, something I didn't do during Shrek once. Yes I did see the movie on Wednsday during a preview, so I am not basing my opinion on what other people say. But out of about 20 people that my wife and I know, only 1 person didn't like the movie.

Give me a break, I like Jimmy Neutron (which btw only got a C+ rating from yahoo users) but there is no way that it is better than Chicken Little.

I could compare yahoo rankings and rotten tomatoes all day. Personally, I would rather use a web site that I have heard of before.

All right, some more Pittsburghers on the boards! I also wish that there was a theater here that had that, but maybe when we go down to WDW next week, our family could see it again at Downtown Disney.

Friday estimates from Box Office Mojo:

1. CHICKEN LITTLE - $10,730,000
2. JARHEAD - $10,470,000

Close race but Chicken Little will most likely come out on top. For comparison, here are the opening days of the last three computer animated films (going to exclude Valiant here  ) -

Madagascar - $13.9m ($47.2m weekend)
Robots - $9.8m ($36.0m weekend)
Shark Tale - $12.9m ($47.6m weekend)

Most likely going to fall in the range of Robots....possibly even higher with the nice boost it will get today.

Keep in mind when looking at those box office totals, the movie came out on a friday and kids (the target audience) had school all day. So that's good news for Disney. It'll be interesting to see how things go today and tomorrow.

Didn't Madagascar come out Memorial Day weekend?

I saw the movie.....I liked it. It was a great blend of story, humor, and technology.

I saw it too...and I agree. I was pleasantly surprised...

While it's not better than Finding Nemo or Monsters Inc....I do put it above Incredibles....

The movie was sort of short too...which isn't exactly a bad thing...but I wonder why they didn't spend more time involving the audience in the emotion of the shaky father/son relationship...I mean they didn't have to go the route of Nemo...but they could've done something similar...

Go see it especially if you got little ones...all the kids in the theater seemed to love it!

Looks like Madagascar was the 27th of May

Robots was early March I think

Shark tale late September

Saw it in 3D...awesome, I could not have been happier with it.

Madagascar - 5/27/05
Robots - 3/11/05
Shark Tale - 10/1/04

I saw it earlier. There were a few good laughs and I liked the whole "War of the Worlds" sequence and the Runt of the Litter character (Steve Zahn did a great job with the voice), but it was nothing more than ok to me. I wasn't too happy with the length (they should have gone into more detail with the characters and overall story) and the animation (decent but nothing like the good stuff DreamWorks has been putting out). It just didn't seem like an animated film that a whole family could enjoy like the Shrek films or The Incredibles to me as well.

Definitely a great movie for kids though.....

The theatre for Jarhead was full, so I had to settle for Chicken Little.

I felt it to be bland, with little to no attention paid to the storyline, and (usually unfunny) jokes sticked in everywhere. It seemed like the animators were just looking at where to stick the jokes and not looking enough at the plot. I mean I understand it's a childrens movie ... but give the kids more credit! Definetly not a memorable movie for me.

But that's just me... I tend to not like Disney 3-D anyways. I thought Nemo was cute and the Incredibles to be alright, but this one was just bland.

We saw it this evening. When I first heard they were turning this story into a movie I had no intention of seeing it. My son really wanted to go so being a 100% supportive dad (gotta see the movie to get it) we all went.

Despite my reservations I really liked it. I found myself laughing at the jokes and liking the characters.
Yes, they did throw a lot of pop culture jokes in, but my wife and I laughed and my son got a few of them as well.

I had no problem with the songs being thrown in. It is a fad in the movie business to throw these songs in (Ella Enchanted, Shrek, Shark tale etc.) but they fit and when positioned correctly I like it. The portion of "The End of the World As We Know it" will be relevant now and 5 years from.

The length did not bother me (1 hr 18 minutes). Keep in mind this is a kids movie and my 7 year old was not as interested in exploring the relationship between Buck Cluck and Chicken Little.

The CG looked good to me (not an expert by any means) and we saw it in a regular theater. We'll probably see it again on one of the new screens.

Overall I liked it and would recommend it. Also, the show was sold out where we were.

I agree....

Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc are my favorite Pixar movies....the others.....I don't care for at all. The Incredibles had neat visuals.....but that was it.

The movie was short....it wrapped up quickly......but that was fine.....more is not always better, sometimes, it is just more.

Good to see the very solid box office returns for CL so far. It should definately see a big Saturday pickup and be number 1 for the weekend. I'd say we'll see around a $34-36 million weekend and that's pretty darn good. I still don't think I'll like it enough to see in the theaters, but I'll definately rent it on DVD (As long as my local rental store gets widescreen copies!)

I saw it in 3D last night. I liked it both ways but I think the 3D was a little better.
The theatre was packed for the 6:15 show. It is the only place in NJ showing the 3D version though.

Did everyone stay until the credits were over?
