the entire issue can be summed with this:
Spaceship Earth has no heart... It was ripped out in 2007.
Prior to 07, Spaceship Earth set the scene beautifully and IllumiNations really did feel like the epic conclusion.agreed. also, let me go a step further. i've always felt like spaceship earth set the tone for future world. i'm not sure if that's what it was intended to do, but the vibe i always got from '81-late '90s EPCOT is that spaceship earth was a majestic introduction (or epic conclusion, depending on when you rode it) to what you were about to/had seen during the day. the cronkite and irons version did that for me. now, like maelstrom suggests, it seems like a...tour of the museum of natural history with my sixth grad leave-replacement english teacher who told me that i couldn't be part swiss because that didn't exist; instead i was part swedish. ya know, swedish cheese, the swiss chef. same thing.

I didn't think he was getting worked up or talking down to people. He was merely defending his position, which is necessary on these boards if one wants to 'survive'. I'm sure had he not said anything when people question his posts, we'd think he'd have run away and hid because he was unreliable.
I think your spot on. The seriousness of the Irons ending was a perfect and great way to set the scene for night time, and also the spirit of epcot.Prior to 07, Spaceship Earth set the scene beautifully and IllumiNations really did feel like the epic conclusion.
My first post ever on this amazing forum and what I MUST say is that Spaceship Earth immediately changed when that gorgeous descent music was taken. If they kept that but switched up the scenery, it wouldn't have been such a smack in the face of a change, but it gave the whole descent a different feeling
I never rode SSE during it's Tomorrows Child days but have heard that was a fantastic ending also.
indeed it was. "tomorrow's child" was really way to cap the attraction. however, i'll cede that it did have a dated feeling. the pre-'07 update worked for me as well.

Tomorrow's Child sounded like something I refused to sing in a second grade cafeteria PTA meeting. The song was beyond dated and I was thrilled to see it go.... just very disappointed with what is there.
Tomorrow's child remains one of my favorites, and I can still hear Walter Cronkite in my head narrating over the beginning of Tomorrow's Child at the beginning of the descent. It never felt dated to me, and still doesn't when I listen.
it was always a favorite of mine (and still is), but i understand that not everything can stay in the '80s. the irons and cronkite versions run neck-and-neck in my book.
Wait a minute -- weren't you around 6 when Tomorrow's Child left SSE?
Bring back the lasers! And the circuit boards!!
