Change of BEDDING in Rooms

I will NEVER touch, sit on or use a comforter in a hotel. Nasty. It's the first thing that gets ripped off and tossed on a chair or the floor.

I will NEVER walk barefoot on the carpet either. Ew.

And I don't bathe in tubs at hotels. I shower - and I stand on a washcloth when I do it.

So it's not just you!

walking barefoot is disgusting

I have to wear flip flops in the shower

I never take baths at home or at hotels (just sitting there in your own stink.yuck)

You all crack me up! This thread is hilarious!

The only thing I do is wipe down the phone, light switches, and door knobs with lysol (or something similar) b/c those things are not rountinely cleaned in a hotel room! Not really b/c of the germs but b/c as someone else mentioned it's just gross - I'm seen visible dirt on light switches and phones before! But I guess that could be considered crazy to some! I don't have a problem with the bed spread but we do pull it back to sleep. I stand in my shower with bare feet and walk around the hotel room in bare feet. My kids bathe in the tub and I've never thought twice about using the drinking glasses (but they're disposable at WDW, correct!?!)!

People, you can't think too much about this stuff or you'll go nuts!

Agreed! At best, bring your own cleaning stuff and disinfect the place quickly yourself. At least that way you'll know for sure it's alright; and you won't have to wear clothes when taking a shower!:hammer:

You do that too? Wow, I thought I was the only one...small world huh?
But I don't do it for adventure...thats wierd...I do it for the extra protein and trace minerals...hand sweat...yummy.

They should make it part of the DDP. So many doorknobs at the World = protein for the entire family! Giving you the energy and fortitude to trek the parks all day long!!! :sohappy:

...why WDW will always keep the black lights in the attractions and never in the hotel rooms. :hurl:

Why is everyone so concerned about the phone? Who's using an in-room hotel phone these days? Be that as it may, count me among those who walks barefoot, showers without a washcloth under my feet, and sleeps in the bed without wrapping myself in plastic. I don't use comforters, but that's because I'm too hot with it...the sheet is plenty for me.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
I'm blissfully ignorant when it comes to germs. What I don't know hasn't hurt me so far, so whatever.
Now, if I ever watched one of those shows where they take a blacklight to a hotel room, my position might change a bit...

I usually dont use the top blanket, but i will be bringing lysol this trip to spray them down which should kill some bacteria. For the floor FLIP FLOPS or socks, I dont use the phone but i do bring clorox wipes for the tables and anywhere my kids will touch that might make them sick. i will use this for the toliet too

I always remove the comforter and put it somewhere out of the way. I also always take the plastic bag out of the ice cube holder and put it over the tv remote and tie it closed.

I used to work in housekeeping at a non-Disney resort. I have seen housekeeping use the toilet wiping towel to wipe remote controls, phones, dressers. I have seen a mop used on a table top. Hotel rooms are pretty much the filthiest places you can be. Nothing is clean. Honestly, the shower is probably one of the cleaner places.

I had always aaumed though that Disney changed their comforters after you check out so each new party has a clean comforter.

As long as things look clean, no one will know the difference. If guests get sick, it will never get traced back to the sloppy housekeepers.

I totally agree. I take my own comforter after the last place we stayed in. It was off property in a really nice hotel. The bedspread smelled of very musty and of bad mens cologne along with cigarette smoke to boot. I get nose bleeds from smoke and this would have been a beautiful nightmare for housekeeping if they did not bring me another one. They brought me one that supposedly had been cleaned. Had to get management to come to our room and smell bedspread for the 3rd time and ask him if he would sleep with it. We were promptly given a new bedspread and they credited us one night stay back for the inconvience. Give it that we had checked in around 8pm that night. By the time bedspread issue was straight, it was well after 12am after a 13 hour drive. Always bring fresh blankets and if you now what size bed, bring your own sheets. I have never had a problem doing this at Disney.

It was Port Orleans French Quarter May 31 - June 6, 2009.

I agree, we usually stay at POFQ and have never had an issue with bedding. This was the first place we have ever stayed at that the sheets and bedspread actually smelled clean. I do not usually smell the sheets, but after and incident in off site hotel, I do now. Have stayed at POFQ many times and will continue to stay there because of the great mousekeeping staff.
