Change of BEDDING in Rooms

I don't know I guess....It doesn't really bother me all that much. I shower SOOO much that I don't care really....literally I take AT LEAST 2 showers a day. I hate not being clean...but I can see why some people would be bothered.

I will NEVER touch, sit on or use a comforter in a hotel. Nasty. It's the first thing that gets ripped off and tossed on a chair or the floor.

I will NEVER walk barefoot on the carpet either. Ew.

And I don't bathe in tubs at hotels. I shower - and I stand on a washcloth when I do it.

So it's not just you!

I am not alone!!! :D

I saw a thing on Dateline or 20/20 about the cleaniness of hotels a few years ago and ever since then the first thing I do in a hotel is take the comforter off and put it in the closet. It doesn't matter if you are in a cheap motel or a high end hotel, they don't change out the comforters often. I have a totally friend that likes fresh sheets everyday and she actually makes a small mark with a marker on the edge of a sheet to see if they have changed her sheets and if not she'll call down and have them change the bedding, lol. Also don't drink out of the glass cups in the bathroom either or if you do wash them out first. The news program hid cameras in the room while the housekeeping was in there and the majority of the housekeepers only rinsed out the cups and one actually used a blue cleaning fluid to clean it out:hurl: And again they did this in 4 star hotels so it's not just the cheap motels that this is occuring. This may sound crazy but I have 4 kids that touch everything so when we stay at a hotel I bring antibacterial wipes and wipe down everything.

I saw that report too.

I am OCD about cleanliness.
I never sleep w/ the comforter on the bed in a hotel.
I usually bring my own blanket to cover up with.
I also never walk on hotel carpet w/ my bare feet. :hurl:
If the tub does not look spotless, I can only take a shower.
I know this may sound crazy, but I just can't help it!
Don't laugh. :D

No laughing here. Makes perfect sense to me.

In hotels in Switzerland there is no upper sheet.
The comforter serves that purpose.

:)
That's the case in a lot of hotels I've stayed at in Europe & other parts of the world. It's not only kind of gross, but not very comfortable: you're too hot with it and too cold without it.

Actually I saw several bedspreads being changed out when I was there last week and it was always when a room was being changed over after a family had left and a new one was coming in.
What resort was this? Maybe they change them more often at more expensive resorts?

Take the phone, put it on the bed, wrap it in the comforter, and the throw the whole mess in the corner.

Mike Rowe did this in a episode of Dirty Jobs. And anything that grosses him out should terrify the rest of the world.

I guess i am so use to staying in hotel rooms that i never even think twice. Although, i do bring my own pillows and blankets. If you are concerned just ask for everything to be changed or ask for a set of sheets so you can do it yourself. They won't even think twice about it. I highly doubt you will see bed bugs at Pop the rooms turn over too fast and are rarely not being used.

I guess I was lucky.
I WAS BORN WITH AN IMMUNE SYSTEM!!!!!!
Makes it much easier to go through life. Not being paranoid and all.

I am quite concerned that this hypersensitivity to germs may bring about the supergerms that are resistant to all antibiotics and so on...
I am a teacher and follow policy that requires washing down everything with disinfectant and offering hand sanitizer, but worry about our future immune response!:(

I use the comforter.
I use the phone.
I use the glasses.
I use the carpet...bare feet no less.
I shower, without standing on a washcloth.
I am still alive and I have never gotten sick from a hotel room...I'm barely ever sick as it is.

I guess if you have complications from a disease...a weakend immune system or are prone to illness it makes sense to be this neurotic but otherwise...

C'mon people...let's relax ok.

I do most of that too. - I am not a super sanitize.

However, the phone is not a matter of disease, its a matter of its nasty.

I have seen phones where the mouth and ear peice were loaded with so much gunk - sweat, makeup, dirt, etc. that you could no longer hear well through them.

I have also seen phones where you pick them up and roaches come out of the base, but I really don't expect to see that in a WDW resort hotel.

If you're sitting in Philharmagic and one person sneezes, where does it go?

When you are standing in line for an attraction and are touching the guard rails, how many other people have just touched those same guard rails?

How clean is the water that gets splashed on you in Splash Mountain and Kali River Rapids?

When you use the serving utensils at the buffet meals, how many other people touch those same items?

Remember Howard Hughes. In his later years he went to extremes to avoid germs.
He died.

Have a magical day !
