Since 9/11, we all obviously see a uniformed presence in the form of sherriffs officers at the front gates, etc. But lets face it, they check your BAGS, not YOU. Carrying a weapon in is quite easy according to some websites I've read. Although Disney doesn't even allow off-duty law enforcement to carry in the parks (unless it would be their normal jurisdiction), it would seem plenty of people have carried concealed firearms into the parks. I'v even read where people were saying that thier Glocks have probably been on Rockin Rollercoaster more than most visitors.

Personally, I think if you are in law enforcement and you are allowed to carry it off duty, then you are allowed to carry it off duty. But what about these non-law enforcement peole who just feel "obligated" or "naked" without it and carry it concealed anyway?

Anyone know of anyone that has carried a concealed weapon into the parks? How you you feel about this? Does it make it safer? Or more dangerous considering how difficult it would be to get off a shot in crowd and have no collateral damage?

(me thinks this topic will melt down into an arguement inside of 3 pages and need to be locked) :ROFLOL:

My cousin has gone armed, but he is an agent with the FBI so he isn't ever 'off duty'.

Gunplay is part of the regular entertainment at our local Six Flags, so why not at Disney? A gang's gotta defend itself.

I am not sure if you are aware of this but Florida does issue a concealed weapons permit which does allow private citizens to carry a concealed fire arm. There are restrictions as to where it can or can not be carried and based on my reading of the restrictions you could make a case either way for carrying one in a theme park.

Possession Restrictions

The following is a list of places where you are restricted from carrying a weapon or firearm even if you have a license. Please note that this is a simplified list. The places marked by an asterisk (*) may have exceptions or additional restrictions. See Section 790.06 (12), Florida Statutes for a complete listing.

o any place of nuisance as defined in s. 823.05
o any police, sheriff, or highway patrol station
o any detention facility, prison, or jail; any courthouse
o any courtroom*
o any polling place
o any meeting of the governing body of a county, public school district, municipality, or special district
o any meeting of the Legislature or a committee thereof
o any school, college, or professional athletic event not related to firearms
o any school administration building
o any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption*
o any elementary or secondary school facility
o any area technical center
o any college or university facility*
o inside the passenger terminal and sterile area of any airport*
o any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law

I don't think many are brought in at all. They might be, but not much.

I know, because they catch HUGE GIANT MURDERING PEOPLE KNIVES inside the park after security all the time.

Much like everything else Disney gets to regulate on its own outside of Florida statutes, it apparently has the right to bar firearms from the parks and to date, it only allows off duty officers whose jurisdiction falls within WDW the ability to carry. Of course that would be the 2 county sherriffs depts in the area and any federal officer since federal laws supersede any state law. As one poster pointed out, their FBI relative certianly COULD legally carry it there. However, Disney still retains the right to bar that person from the parks. You need to purchase a ticket to get in and it is in fact a contract that you agree to their rules.

Just thought it was an interesting thing overall. I think you would really be surprised who is packing these days, legal or not. Its only a matter of time before someone freaks out at a park because they see someone with a gun that accidently isn't quite so concealed anymore. Like a person is stretching to lean over and someone see it under their jacket. Even if that person is legal, it will be ALL OVER the news. Only a matter of time.

Yeah, it is private property so they have the right but I doubt they would stop a federal agent from being armed. My cousin actually has to be armed at all times (flying, beach, walmart, etc) since as an FBI agent he is a constant target. It is crazy the regulations he has to follow.

Wow....I never considered it...seems a little paranoid. Next thing you know, characters will be carrying a 38 special so they don't get felt up...

The people who conceal carry in FL generally don't wear jackets unless it's cold out. I'd watch out for those Hawaiian shirts, though. :lookaroun
