We went for breakfast and werent overlly impressed but it was a decent buffet. Its kinda cool all the characters are in their swim gear.

Heading for the great escape.
It was like eating in the mess. Shell fish was average, servery was a bit of a free for all, server over worked and harassed as Disney looked to maximise bums on seats, food overal dissapointing.

Wont be rushing bask.

If you like seafood, it's really good. We ate there last night and it was our favorite meal of the trip. LOVED the buckets of steamed clams. DH loved the ribs and carved beef too. We're from NE and are big seafood eaters and we were impressed. We'll definitely be going back.

Crab legs were on the buffet when we went in November and we love them so it was great for us. (in the past they charged extra) The rest of the seafood was great too, that was all we ate. If you like it then go you will be happy.

Yo!!! We went to Cape May Cafe for breakfast when we were there in September, and I was so very disappointed! Service was horrid and the food was average, not special. I had heard great things about this place and boy was I sorely informed, maybe it was just an off there when I was there. But needless to say I don't think I will be eating there again anytime soon.

Here are some pics for you though

We've eaten dinner there twice and have it booked for 10AUG10. We love it. It's one of our favorites + you get to stroll the Boardwalk afterwards. My wife is a huge dessert eater and she thinks that Cape May has the best desserts on property.

ps- this place is so good that my non-seafood eating wife requested it

We stay at the BC and have only eaten at the Dinner buffet once; the food was very ordinary and the service was poor - but the worst was the scrum around the food, it was like a free for all! Never again.

Sue I knew you would have a thing or two to say about Cape May! :ROFLOL: I remember you saying in a previous posting somewhere on here about your less then steller experience here!

I'm always impressed with the characters that can draw so well with those big gloves on.

I know right!!! I couldn't draw that good with my bare hands! :ROFLOL: My DS was very siked about the pic goofy drew, as he is big into drawing these days!

Let me know how it works out for you. Will definitely not be eating there for dinner anytime soon, I'm allergic to shellfish!

I personally had a mediocre dinner there several years ago, but I have since heard huge raves. It seems to be a place that is either loved or despised, and I have no idea why the opinions vary so widely. There is no denying that the buffet is overloaded with seafood, so if that is a passion you should at least give it a try.

My family loves the dinner clambake. Not sure I understand the complaints about it being a "free for all." I mean, it IS a buffet, what exactly do you expect? Is it Disney's fanciest dining experience? No. But we go because we love seafood in a laid back atmosphere. My mom doesn't eat seafood but is still able to find a good variety. Dad loves unlimited clams, I love unlimited crab legs and my brother loves both.

We generally aren't the "all you can eat" buffet type people as we aren't big eaters and prefer quality to quantity, but there is a good variety and it's a cheaper option if you like crab legs. We've been there twice and will definitely be going back on the next trip (and we don't even do the dining plan, we pay out of pocket for it.) Both times we had great service. Personally I think any complaint about the service being bad on only one trip is a matter of chance, since it just depends on your waiter and that can happen anywhere.

Buffet service is always hit or miss. Just give me refills...thats all I care about. I don't want to be thirsty.

I agree. I think if you like seafood, Cape May is worth a shot. I like reading the reviews on here but I don't take them to heart much any more. I love places that people seem to hate (Cape May, Yak and Yeti) and wasn't thrilled with places that people rave about (Boma, while good was not great in my book.) Good luck deciding!

We always eat in the Cafe May Cafe on our last night of our holiday as we stay in the Beach Club and it's handy while trying to pack up after three weeks in Disneyworld not sure if we would go otherwise. The food is nothing special but after 21 days of table service meals it suits us fine. Even thou the food is just ok, my kids love the Cape May as you can draw on the paper table cloth as you eat and they always find something that they like on the buffet. The dessert buffet is my favourite and is very good. But I do find it to be a little expensive for the amount of food we eat.

The breakfast buffet is better than dinner and it has characters but there are no characters at dinner. We celebrated a double birthday at the Cape May for breakfast last year. We got 2 cards, 2 cupcakes and minnie came to wish us happy birthday.

We went last year and enjoyed Cape May. The food was really good and their was quite a bit of variety to pick from on the buffet.

The service is OK, but how much service are you really expecting at a buffet? They come around and clean the tables as you go back for seconds and fill your drinks as needed, but other than that it is really self serve anyways. The buffet area could be set up a little better because it does get crowded sometimes.

We will go back again. We normally stay at the Boardwalk so it is really convenient to just walk over to the Beach Club
