Ok I am going to WDW in july 2010 for my honeymoon:sohappy:
Now I can stay anywhere, I would like to stay at poly but is it really
worth it. I have stayed at both port Orleans and was happy with both.
I really only want to stay at poly cause it is on the monorial. The buses don't really bother me but the love bugs do, Im guessing they will not be out in july. The price diffrence is big too. Now we can do either. I just want to know if Poly is really worth it.

Thanks

p.s. I can't wait to go I have the bug so bad oh ya and the married thing is good to lol  just kidding I am very proud to marry my love

I have never stayed there myself but know people who have. They have all said it was a great place to stay. I have heard nothing but great things. And for the occasion it is really perfect. If you have the opportunity to stay at the Poly, I would definitely say its worth it.

I have known a person for years who ONLY stays at Poly and I always thought they were nuts until I stayed there last year. This year I had to convince myself that staying at the GF was a good idea. I am really going to miss the Poly this year. At least I can look at it from the GF when I am there in August.

There is something so special about the atmosphere of the Poly that I never understood until I spent some time there.

Port of Orleans now I will probably never ever stay there again.:hurl: to that place.

You can not even compare Poly and POR.

We stayed at POR this year for the first time and thought it was very nice. We usually stay at CBR but wanted something different. We did venture over to Poly and loved it. The resort is beautiful and the grounds are as well. My whole family agreed that when we return in a couple of years that will be the place to stay! I have always wanted to stay at the Boardwalk but I think the Poly will win.

The hotel is, in itself, not worth the price differential. It is one of the older complexes and lacks the bells and whistles of the newer ones. There's nothing inherently impressive about it. On the plus side, you have have monorail access and waterfront views, and the hotel seems to be a bit quieter (less hustle and bustle) than some of the others.

If you are going to be cramming in as much park time as possible, and using your hotel room pretty much just for sleeping, then something like a waterfront view may not matter to you at all. Also, considering that the monorail system only services MK and EPCOT, if you're going to be visiting any of the other parks or guest areas, you are going to have to use the bus system anyway.

It's your honeymoon. If you can afford it, go for it.:)

Exactly.

We love the Poly and although it is a little pricey, we're sacrificing in other ways to stay there.
It really is worth it...the scenery, location, theming, monorail, service, restaurants...all of it is great.
Go for ti! I doubt you'll regret it.

In my eyes. It's your honeymoon. You will remember it for the rest of your life. If you can afford the Poly, why not do it before life gets in the way. In the future, you may have to cut back and stay at a place a little cheaper due to kids, and other commitments and the opportunity to stay at such a place may not be there.

But whatever you chose to do, it will be just as a magical, and just as special....and I don't see how you could go wrong with either one..

Congrats and Best Wishes on your future together!

You've already stayed at the moderate resorts and I think for your honeymoon you should have a once-in-a-lifetime, magical experience. This may be the only time you stay there or you may love it so much it will be an anniversary spot for you but I say save your money and splurge on the Poly.

It adds to the magic to be just a short monorail ride away from the magic kingdom and the beach in the evening is a wonderful site.

You should make your honeymoon a truly magical trip so go BIG!!!

I have never stayed at the Poly, but it is beautiful.
I have stayed at POR & I really enjoyed it there.
For a special occasion like a honeymoon, I would choose the Poly if it was in my price range.

Stay at the Poly.
My wife and I honeymooned at the Poly in October.
My Family always stays at the Poly...even when i was a kid. Not only is it beautiful but there is something wierd going on there. The place emits a feeling of peace and calm...its very strange.
Anyways...when we arrived we were automatically upgraded to concierge level which was great. The concierge service was able to get ressies for resturants we wanted to go to and tickets for shows that were "booked".

Stay at the Poly just make sure when you call to make the reservations that you make it VERY OBVIOUS you are going for your honeymoon...you might get the same free upgrade we recieved.

Have Fun.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Do it right! Of course, as long as you're at WDW with your other, there's no "wrong," but some rights are more right than other rights... right?

Stayed at the Poly last year for the first time..It is my favorite now..The location, the landscaping, the whole atmosphere is wonderful. I actually felt bad to be leaving the resort itself on the last day, which had never happened before.

Booked Poly again for September of this year...can't wait to go back!:sohappy:

The Poly has been my favorite since my first trip to WDW in 1984, when I was staying offsite and only got to see it from the Express Monorail. I knew that this is where I wanted to stay next time and saved up for it, it was worth every penny. I had since stayed at other Disney resorts, just about every one that opened prior to 2000, but, in my humble opinion, nothing outshined the Poly. My DH recently went back for our anniversary and it was still a great after all these years. We're returning to WDW in August, staying at the GF, only because we couldn't get the special deal for 35% off club level rooms at the Poly.

It's your honeymoon, something you will remember for the rest of your life, go for it. See if you can get any specials, like a AAA discount, or discount with a Disney Visa card.

If I had the money, I would love to stay at the Poly. With 2 kids and a mortgage, we usually stay at an All Star resort. I would like to do a vow renewal/second honeymoon at the Polynesian in 2013....20 years of marriage.
